The "hump-back" brid/e over
the Colorado River between Ha-
trop anil Utley will be re placed
with a new, low water bridge
in the near future by the State
Highway Department, according
to R. M Wiley, county commis-
sioner of precinct No. 1. The
plan was accepted by the Com-
missioners Court of Bastrop
County with a three to one vote
by the commissioners at their
meeting in the court house here
Monday, Mr. Wiley said.
The court had previously voted
to locate the bridge in the Polk
Bond Community, further up
the river, but the action was re-
considered by the court when
1 iley people protested the action
and asked for futher considera
turn.
Ed Blui tein of the Texas
Highwa> Department who was
pn ent at the meeting said that
the new bridge would !«• located
u the immediate vicinity of the
present bridge.
