Exams For Future
Patrolmen
Announced
Future patrolmen of the Tex
as Department of Public Safety
will be selected Jan 20. through-
out Texas in examinations to be
given young men between 21 and
35 years of age.
In announcing the date for
the selection exams. Col. Homer
Garrison. Jr., director, said ap-
proximately 170 vacancies now
exi.-t in the rank- of the Texas
Highway Patrol. He -aid ap-
plications will be accepted until
January 12.
Young meri interested in the.-n
positions may obtain detailed
information from DPS offices
located in Austin, Waco, Dallas,
Houston, Corpus Chri.-ti, Mid-
land and Lubbock. Any officer
of th< Department of Public
Safety and the Texas Employ-
ment Commission will talk to
you at length concerning the in-
teresting jobs.
New patrolmen will draw £400
per month while training and
will live in the modern Law En-
forcement Acadamy in Austin
throughout the training period, j
At the completion of the normal
schooling, new patrolmen will
work with experienced officers
during their first assignment.

high school education, be be-
