John Frericli Jr
Buried At Rockne
By Mrs. Arthur Cocrtz
John (Johnny) F re rich Jr., 6~>,
a parishioner of Sacred Heart
Parish, Rockne, passed away
Tuesday evening. April 28, 1950,
at r>:-!i> p. m. in the Bastrop hos-
pital following a short illness.
Funeral services with Requiem
High Ma.-.- were offered Thurs-
day morning, April ."i0, at 10
a. ni. by the Rev. Claude A.
Faust in Sacred Heart Church,
Rockne. Interment was in Sa-
cred Heart Cemetery, Rockne.
Rosary was said for the deceas-
ed at his home Wednesday even-
ing. April 29, at 8 p. m.
Pall bearers were his nephews:
Louis. F re rich Jr., Pin Oak; Pat
Beck. Austin; Emil Hilbig, San
Antonio; Leroy Beck, Bastrop;
Jerry Hilbig and Burl Rathman,
Rockne.
Survivors include his widow,
Mrs. Frieda Frerich, Rockne;
five ,-ons, Leonard Frerich. Yer-
lin Frerich. San Antonio; Ernest
Frerich, Milburn Frerich. Bas-
trop. and Lawrence Frerich,
Rockne; two daughters, Mrs. Al-
fred (Albiuta: Halbardier, Sai;
Antonio; Mrs. Alfred (Velma)
Seidel, New Braunfels; his pa-
rents, Mr. and Mrs. John Frerich
Sr.. Rockne; two brothers. Louis
Frerich Sr., Pin Oak; Alvin Fre-
nch, Rockne; five sisters, Mrs.
Joe (Ella) Beck, San Antonio;
Mrs. Katie fioertz. Austin; Mrs.
Fred (Lena) Hiibig, Mrs. Anton
(tlertrude) Beck, and Mrs. Mon-
roe (Mary) Rathman, Rockne,
and 14 grandchildren.
Mr. Frerich, the eldest son of
Mr. and Mrs. John Frerich Sr.
of Rockne was born July 9, 189;},
at String Prairie. He and Frie-
da Hilbig were united in mar-
riage 44 years ago, on October
27. 1915. in Sacred Heart
Church, Rockne. The couple
made their home in Rockne Com-
munity and raised their family
of seven children.
The unexpected death of Mr.
Frerich saddened the hearts of
his many friends and relatives,
who will greatly mis- his smil-
ing friendly personality. He was
constantly sharing a laugh or
joking with some one he knew.
Thinking of him one immediately
associates him with his work,
the drivng of one of the county-
trucks of the road niantenanee
crew for precinct no. a. He had
been a steady and dependable
employee for the county since
194 *>.
Mr. Frerich, who was highly
esteemed by hi- fellow parishion-
ers and friends, was a faithful,
life time member of the Catholic
('hurch, and a member of St.
Joseph's Society, Rockne. In his
funeral sermon. Father Faust
stated that the family could be
consoled with the fact that Mr.
Frerich had the privilege of re
ceiving the Last Sacrament
shortly before his death, and in
the thought that their loved on •
had loyally fulfilled the obliga
tioii- to hi- church during his
life time, and been highly re-
garded by those who knew him.
Clergy from elsewhere attend-
ing his funeral were the Rev
M. C. l)ea..on, Ba-trnp, and the
Rev. Edward Bartseh of Van-
derbilt. A host of relatives
and friends from many of the
surrounding towns and communi-
ties attended the funeral.
