The World's Telephones
The world's telephones totaled 117.800,000 at the last count
a year ago. It required that much time to bring the statistics
together.
The I'nited States with 63, K21.000, accounted for more
than half of the total telephones in the world—of which 89
percent are dial. This is about twice the number of telephones
you could reach in 194K.
Another interesting fact about telephones in the I nited
States is this; for every 100 population there are 37 telephones in
service, as compared to 4.2 telephones per 100 population for
the world. It is possible for you to reach 97 percent ol the
world's telephones from your telephone here in Bastrop.
Being able to reach more telephones makes your telephone
service more valuable.
Vacation Hint
When you stop in the middle of your vacation this year
to remember friends or family back home, why not give the
"wish you were here" greeting a new twiat.
Do it with a I-ong Distance call. Its more fun that way,
and you can catch up on the news at home, too.
And reroemoer to call station-to-station. It's cheaper—you
can make three calls for the price of two.
x Busy Telephones
With school out for the summer, telephones in many houses
will probably be Retting a real workout.
There'll be calls from the children's friends at most any
Hour of the day—to round up the group for a game, to arrange
to meet at the movies, or to compare notes on a new bike or
the lalewt record album.
Whatever the call, the telephone is always there to help
fe*sagern—and small fry, too—have more fun during vacation.
If you have children whose friends keep the phone ring
mg at a merry clip, make it easy for your youngsters to ans
wer without running through the house. Extension telephones
will do the trick.
Why not call the telephone company for a home extension
telephone today? The cost is low, just |1.00 a month plus in
Htallation.
