symptom- of 11t-patiti.~ often re
semblt those of "Flu". There

throat, headache, mu.-t li pain.-,
and f e v e r. Nausea, vomiting,

fatigue may follow. However,

it may be difficult to recognize
any of the above symptoms. The

In the majority of ca-i , In

it is thought that it allows the
person to have the disease in
an extremely mild form that
does not produce symptom-.
The virus of Hepatitis is ex-
creted in the .-tool- of infected
individuals. It is present din-
ing the time of early svmptom-
and remains there for an ad-
ditional out oi two weeks, there
are various way- of spread, but
the cause of our local spread is
not at present known. In an
attempt to control the local
pread, the following i (-com-
mendations are made:
1. Children should be instruct
ed to use good bathroom
hygiene, w ashing their
hands with soap and water
thoroughly. They should be
washed thoroughly before
handling food.
2. The ebove holds true foi
adults, as well, and is
particularly true of anyone
handling food that will be
consumed by others.
3. Only well cooked food and
proven uncontaminated
water should be consumed.
(It is felt that the local
water supply is NOT con
taminated I.
I Anyont having symptoms,
however vague, that re
-emble t h o s e mentioned
above, should check with
his family phyician.
5. Any per-on who has be« n
in intimate contact with
anyone having the disease
should .it ins family physi
cian.
It is ft't ; at immunity to
Infertious Iltpatitis is obtained
by those who have the disease,
including those who have had
a sub clinical form after having
had (iamma (ilobulin.
Thi- i- beinj.' published not to
create a panic in thi community,
but to contradict some of the
misunder.-tanding and uttneces
sary apprehension that exists
in the community. The people
who have had the disease have
all had a very mild form, and
there iiavt been no complications
with their disease. It is also
hoped that through a better
undei-tanding of the disease, an
eailier halt to the disease spread
can be obtained.
A- your City and County
Health Officers, we have re-
que-ted the help of the Statt'
Health Depaitment in an attempt
to obtain further informatior
about thi disease, and in tht
hope that through their assist
ance the furthei spread of the
disease can 1 curtailed. If cnB
