Ninety four county home de-
monstration ami agricultural a
gents of the Northern and Sou-
thern Districts attended the
State Agent's Conference held
at Prairie A.&M. College Jan-
uary 28-F<*bruary 1. The con-
ference theme was "Pursuing
Excellence." The purpose of
the conference was to encour-
age each agent to reflect on the
scope of their ability to this
state.
The Conference officially o-
poned January 29 with Rev. W.
Van Johnson, executive secre-
tary, YM and YWCA, portray-
ing in the devotional work of
education in the pursuit of ex-
cellence. The need for improve
ment in this changing world
was vividly < xemplified in gre-
eting'! from Dr. R. B. Evans,
president of Prairie View A.&M.
College.
The agents were honored to
have Mrs. H a t t i .- McSwain,
home economist. National Live-
stock and Meat Board, Chicago,
give a demonstration on how to
select, care for, cook and serve
meats.
One of the highlights of the
conference was the Award Ban
quet which honored retired .i
gents, 1() year. 20 year and :>0
year sen-ice agent.-.
Among the agents who par-
i ticipated in the Stat/' Confer-
ence were Mrs. Elnora Bryant
and A. C. demons, Negro Co-
unty Extension Agents of Bas-
trop County.
