calf. Mr. Peterson is also the di-
rector of the Houston Livcstoc1'
Show, and a retired director of

On this the 3 day of March,
1965, the City Council of the City
of Bastrop, Texas, convened in
in S|iccial Meeting, at the regular
meeting place with the following
members present, to-wit:
Jack A. Griesenbeek, Mayor;
Adren l>>ng, N. R Simpson, Ho-
mer R. Wessels, Koy Kragh, I>an
Lloyd, Alderman; and Mrs. Ann
Patton, City Secretary .
and with the following absent:
none, constituting a quorum of the
City Council, at which time the
following proceedings were had:
Councilman N. R. Simpson in-
troduced for consideration of the
City Council an ordinance. The
ordinance was read in full by the
City Secretary.
Councilman Homer R. Wessels
moved that the ordinance be pas-
sed. The motion was seconded
by Councilman Dan Lloyd. The
motion carrying with the passage
of the ordinance prevailed by the
following vote:
AYKS: Council men I>ong, Simp-
son, Wessels, Kragh, Lloyd and
Mayor Griesenbeek
NOES: None.
The ordinance as passed is as
follows:
An ordinance by the City Coun-
cil of the City uf Bastrop, Texas,
Creating a lluopital Authority un-
der and by virtue of the powers
eonfrrnvl upon aaid (Xty by the
HoNpital Authorities Act; deirignat
lug the name by which said dist-
rict fthall lie known; appointing
the Board of Directors; defining
the Ixiundarica thereof; enacting
provisions incident and related to
the subject and purpose of this
ordinance
Whereas, under the provisions
of the Hospital Authorities Act
(Chapter 472 Acts of the 56th Le
gislature, Regular Session, 1957,
codified as Article 4437e Vernon'e
Annotated Texas Civil Statutes)
the City Council of the City of
Bastrop is authorized and em-
powered to create a Hospital Au
thority if the creation thereof
would be to the best interest of
the City and its inhabitants; and
Whereas, the City Council has
caused an investigation to be
made and now finds and deter-
mines that it is to the best in-
. terest of the City inhabitants to
create a Hospital Authority under
the provisions of the aforesaid
j Act:
Now. Therefore, be it ordained
by the City Council of the City of
Bastrop:
Section 1. That it is to the
tiest interest of the City and its
inhabitants to create a Hospital
Authority to l>e comprised of the
territory included within the
boundaries of the City of Bastrop,
Texas, and said Hospital Auth-
ority is hereby created and the
same shall be a body politic and
corporate under the name of Bas-
trop Hospital Authority which is
hereby designated as the name
by which said Authority shall be
| known.
Section 2. That the Bastrop Hos-
pital Authority shall be governed
by a Board of Directors consisting
of seven 17* members The first
Directors for said Authority shall

A western horse show will be
held in the American Legion ro-
deo arena at Bastrop this Satur-
day. April 3, from 3 p. m. on
Sponsored by the local American
U-gion, the show will be divided
into three age groups, children 12
and under, teens 13-17 and o|ien
for all ages.
There is no admission charge
ami everyone is welcome to at-
tend Refreshments and sandwich-
es will be sold by Bastrop County
4-11 Clubs.
Events include western plea-
sure. straightaway barrels, clov-
erleaf barrels, polebending, rib-
bon roping, breakaway roping,
tiedown roping and reining.
Entries will close at the time of
each event. Youth and open en-
tries are open to anyone residing
in the South Central Texas Horse
Show Association Area composed
of Bastrop, Travis, Williamson,
Burnet and Hays Counties. This is
a point show. Further information
may be obtained from W. R. "Ri-
ley" Hatfield, Bastrop.

Pet owners are reminded that
the annual rabies vaccination
drive for the Bastrop area will be
held thus Friday, April 2 from 1-
6 p. m. at the J. V. Ash carlo! in
Bastrop. Dr. W. H. Cardwell of
Elgin will be assisted by County
4-11 lx>ys. Cost for rabies vaccina-
tion for dogs and cats will be
$1.50. Rabies is a very serious
disease that affects pets, people,
livestock and everyone in the Bas-
trop area is urged to have their
pets vaccinated.
The annual budding and graft-
ing school will be held this Satur-
day, April 3 at 9:00 a.m. on the
Bastrop County Courthouse lawn
Sponsored by the Bastrop County
Pecan Growers Association every-
one is invited. Quality nuts and
fruits don't just happen. One way
to achieve this is by budding and
grafting the best varieties onto
native trees. Helping others to

screwworm program will be fin-
anced by the United States gov-
ernment after July 1, 195.
