Easter Services
Mrs. Carol Giorda, organist for
First Methodist Church in Bas-
trop. will be guest soloist for the
Maundy Thursday services to lie
held in the church tonight l>ogin-
ning at 7:30 p.m. She will sing
Kieserling's "I Am the Living
Bread '
From 12 noon until 3 p.m., a
service of devotion and solemnity
in commemoration of the Passion
and Death of Christ will be held
in the church sanctuary Good
Friday afternoon.
The devotional talks during the
afternoon will l>e delivered by the
Rev. William E. Parrish. the Rev.
Henry Newman, Dr. J Gordon
Bryson. Mrs. Paul Abrams and
Mrs. Leland Fischer.
The Holy .Scriptures will be
read by six young people received
into church membership on Palm
Sunday. They are Grady Foust,
Mary Oldfie'd, Betty Schuyler,
John Crawford, Jim Wilkin* and
James Schuelke.
The music for the Good Friday
service will consist of the Pas-
sion Hymns led by the Methodist
Choir under the direction of Mrs.
Arthur Edwards. The choir will
also sing the anthems. "God So
Loved the World,' by Stainer;
"The Crucifixion." Wilson; "Ave
Verum," Lacht; "And He Bear-
ing His Cross, Went Forth,"
Hoi ton; "They Have Taken Away
My Lord," Stultz.
For those who must arrive late
or leave during the service, there
will be an organ interlude at 25
minute intervals, at which time
worshippers may enter or leave
the service.
Speeial music by the choir dur-
ing the joyous 10:55 a.m. Easter
j Sunday worship service will in-
clude "Thanks Be To God" by
Norman and an adaption of Hand-
el's "Hallelujah Chorus."
An invitation to participate in
all of these services is extended
to Christians of all denominations.
