NOTICE
At the regular meeting of the
City Council on May 8, 1972,
the following ordinance was
passed:
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING
CERTAIN SECTIONS OF Till'.
EXISTING ANIMAL ORDINANCE
' BE IT ORDAINED that no per-
son shall keep a hog within the
city limits of the City of Bas-
trop, Texas.
The existing hug ordinance was
passed in 1949 and exempted
certain areas of city that
were sparsely settled. Since that
time some of these sections have
become thickly populated, and
hog pens in these areas have
become a nuisance. There have
been numerous complaints in re-
cent months about this problem
and some have ended in the
State Health Department having
to send Inspectors to Bastrop.
These Inspectors have declared
that the unsanitary conditions
of some of the hog pens may
constitute a potential health
problem. In view of this fact,
the Council felt that It was nec-
essary to amend the existing
ordinance to include all the areas
within the city limits, and are
hereby giving notice to the citi-
zens that this ordinance is now
in effect and that hereafter it
will be unlawful to keep hogs
within the city limits.
