Fishinq Report
For Week Ending March 26:
March winds make it difficult
for the fishermen. The marina
continues to be a popular place
as the large carp are caught.
Glen Haws of Austin caught
over a 100 pounds of carp dur-
ing the week.
The largest bass this week
was a 5'4 pounder brought In
by Gene Benford of Bastrop.
Austin fishermen seemed to
have the best strings this week:
27 bass and 2 catfish were
brought in by Jeff Chandler and
two of his buddies. C. F. Peters
and S. H. Corvatt had a string
of 13 bass and 1 catfish. A string

CYO MEETING
HELD
Hie Annual Austin Diocesan
Catholic Youth Organization
Convention, to be held at the
Villa Capri in Austin, July 28-
29, was one of the main topics
discussed at the Rockne CYO
meeting, Wednesday evening
March 28, held in Sacred Heart
School. A new feature of the
1973 Convention will be the
"The Dameans," five priests
from Louisiana, who will give
spiritual talks, play and sing
for the groups entertainment.
This group will replace the
conventional workshops of the
past, which seem to have lost
appeal for the youth.
Cheryl Goertz, vice-presi-
dent, presided at the meeting.
Mark Goertz, adult supervisor,
led the opening prayer.
Kevin Hilbig, athletic chair-
man, reported on the past ac-
tivities of the Boys Volley Ball
Team, and announced that soft
ball practice for both the boys
and girls teams would start
soon. Valon Meuth will coach
the girls team.
Civics chairman, Dominic
Muehr, urged the youth to re-
mind all the parishioners to
exercise their privilege in vot-
ing at the coming school board
election. Eleven youth were
given names of all the parish-
ioners to telephone, reminding
them to vote.
Debra Hoffman, social chair-
man, said the Senior Outing
will be April 29. A planning
meeting will be held, April 2,
to make final arrangements.
Serving on the committee are
Debra, Cheryl Goertz, Brenda
Bartsch, Susan Bartsch,
Connie Goertz, Leslie Hilbig,
Ricky Tucker, and Larry Klaus.
Spiritual chairman, Leslie
Hilbig announced that a sing
practice for the Folk Mass
would be held, Wednesday,
April 3. All CYO members are
invited to attend.
Susan Bartsch, chairman of
the coming Talent Show to be
staged in Sacred Heart School
Auditorium. June 17, urged the
members to participate. Re-
hearsals will begin at the April
meeting.
Ten cents per member will
be contributed to the Western
District Catholic League of
Texas, to help support this or-
ganization.
The possibility of the Rockne
CYO staging a Walk For Hunger
was discussed.
Attending the meeting were
Karen Klaus, a new member,
and Connie Bauer, Sandra Beck,
Stephen Beck, Connie Goertz,
Cheryl Goertz, Kathleen
Goertz, Kerry Goertz, Marilyn

The world may be a stage,
but few actors grt curtain calls.
In 1909, Mrs. Baird replaced a bicycle
With a wagon to get her bread
to the customers faster... and fresher.
Today, Mrs Baird's Bread is still delivered
to the store as soon as possible after each bake,
because her family still cares about freshness.
