$55 for cats and includes spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations,
microchip and more. All dogs are negative for heartworms, and

Stonewall hosts Sen. Royce West,
marks Hunger Action Month
Texas State Sen. Royce West of Dallas will be
the special guest speaker at the Stonewall
Democrats membership meeting at 6:30 p.m. on
Tuesday, Sept. 16, at Ojeda's Restaurant, 4617
Maple Ave. in Dallas
Also scheduled to speak at the meeting are Q
Ragsdale from the Senators, Republicans-
tumed-Democrats Judge Elizabeth Crowder
and Judge Mark Greenberg, and Brian Burton
from the Wilkinson Center.
Since September is National Hunger Action
Month, Stonewall has challenged each guest to
bring a can food to donate to the Wilkinson
Center.
Stonewall will also vote on the endorsement
recommendation for Sen. Joe Biden for vice
president.

Pathways UU Church in Southlake
participating in 7 Straight Nights event
Pathways Unitarian Universalist Church will
hold a "Seven Straight Nights for Equal Rights"
vigil on Wednesday, Sept. 17, from 6 p.m. to 9
p.m. at Southlake Town Center, 1450 Plaza Place
in Southlake.
The event is part of Seven Straight Nights for
Equal Rights 2008, a national project intended to
spotlight straight equality advocates over the
week of Sept. 14-20.
The Rev. Tony Lorenzen, pastor of Pathways
U.U. Church, said the point of the event is to
help the people of North Tarrant County realize
the consequences of discrimination and to work
toward legislative action aimed at eliminating
inequality.
"Our goal as a congregation is not to embar-
rass or frighten the people of Southlake, but to
take a nonviolent stand against discrimination
and to educate the community about GLBT
issues," Lorenzen said.
Nationally, Seven Straight Nights is spon-
sored by Atticus Circle and Soulforce. Local
partners, in addition to Pathways U.U. Church,
are the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education
Network of Dallas and the Greater Southlake
Community.

Month, Gay Pride with party at S4
Valiente DFW- LGBT Latino/a Alliance cele-
brates the start of Hispanic Heritage Month and
Gay Pride with a party in the Granite Bar at

p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18.
Everyone is invited, and the event will
