EVERY ONE KNEW HIM WELL BUT" j
It's a Sad Story .... Yet a True One ?J
Back in the gay old Nineties Mr. Smith had a large 'General Merchandise store, in a pro,,
gressive community, supported by industrious farmcis and industiial workers. Mi. Smitiil
>vas loved by all the Country side, because, he was the people's druggist, he supplied them with
hardware, with dry goods to make their clothes, and the food tftat went on their t&ble. As thfi
wheels of industry t^rns, changes must go.,on; like all other communities the people wanted the
community to be progressive and grow and so it was . . ... _ —_
The time came when the people wanted anew modem courthouse; they decided they must,
have better schools, some paved streets, and electric lights; this done their town was progres- k
sive and modern. Hand in hand with these progressive people, Mr. Merchant contributed much
in helping to build the town. It was very modern and everyone was proud of his home town.
Then came the high competitive era, with stream lined transportation, good highways to
the big cities. Today this progressive little town is considered a "DEAD TOWN" because of out
of town buying. BOn't let your town be called a "DEAD TOWN"—support your local firms as
much as possible and there will be no sad story to tell about anyone.
