CHRISTMAS IN
TEXAS <
By MRS.'JAMES C REED
It was Christmas in Texas and
Santa was late,
For th£ load was so heavy and
,Twas such a big Stat,e.
Most all little Texans had asked
for new boots,
And they needed holster^ and
guns they could shoot.
They had to have spurs! and a
ten-gallon hat
And chaps just like Daddy's—
Now what about that?
Some wanted a pony with four
stocking feet;
He must be a beauty and
awfully fleet.
There were nice new bridles with
reins that were grand,
There were real Western sad-
dles and lassos for roping,
For all of these things the
childten were hoping.
It was almost morning.
In the east a faint glow.
The reindeer were tiring and
had to go slow.
Santa reached the last ranch
house and almost did yell,
As he put .the last poney in
the corral.
As he left in his sleigh he
called back with a drawl;
"Merry Christmas you Texans.
Merry Christmas y'all."
