about in formal wear. Late at
night, almost all hope gone,
Marc passed a place called the
Six Dollar Motel with a club
called The Palms. Conven-
tioneers, Shriners, slumming
aristocrats and bowling team
champions cavorted to a hot
swing band. Marc had come
home.

Remember how swell
Saturday morning used to
be? Remember the golden
years before papers, tests,
homework and Kazlow?
Remember when there were
forms of entertainment
besides the decadent pursuit of
scarlet women, demon rum
and easy virtue? Sure, sure,
you say, shaking your fist
defiantly, but those days are
gone forever. Not so! say we. In
the great tradition of the DKA
Counterball, the Baker-
Hanszen Informal, and the
sandwich line at the lunch
counter (pun), Sid Richardson
proudly offers you an
alternative to the Wiess Night
of Decadence: THE RICH-
ARDSON NIGHT OF
INNOCENCE.
A fun-filled evening of
cartoons, coke, and kiddie
capers. Bugs Bunny and his
pals Road Runner, Pepe Le
Pew, Tweety and Sylvester
head up a galaxy of all your
favorite cartoon stars. The
laughs keep coming with
Woody Woodpecker, Deputy
Dawg, and Sidney the
Elephant. And of course
there's Mighty Mouse (what...
a. . .mouse!). And it wouldn't
be Saturday morning without
Mickey, Donald, Goofy and
that whole irrepressible gang
from Disney. Plus! an SRC
exclusive: "The Rites of
Spring" sequence from
Fantasia along with Disney's
Rights and responsibilities enumerated
The following notice is from
the Office of the Dean of
Undergraduate Affairs:
By the Family Educational
Rights and Privacy Act of
1974 and the amendments
attached to it, all of which
became federal law on
November 19,1974, Rice
University is required to
advise its students annually of
the rights granted them by the
amended Act with respect to
their records on file with the
University. In summary, these
are: the right to examine their
records under certain
qualifying provisions, the
right to a hearing to provide
an opportunity for correcting
information in their records,
and the right of privacy for
personally identifiable
information which may be
contained in their records.
In accordance with the
provisions of the Act, the
University reserves the right
to publish directory infor-
mation, as defined by the Act,
concerning its students
without their written
permission, with the exception
that students who do not wish
such information to be
released by the University
should submit notification of
their preference in writing to
the office of the Dean of
Undergraduate Affairs no
later than October 24, 1977,
and such information will
then not be released until
contrary notice is received.
Directory information
includes the student's name,
address, telephone number,
officially recognized activities
and sports, weight and height
of members of athletic teams,
dates of attendance, degrees
and awards received, and the
most recent previous educa-
tional agency or institution
attended by the students.
For the exact provisions
under which the student's
rights of access and privacy
are established, the text of the
amended Act and the
applicable regulations, as
issued by the Department of
Health, Education, and
Welfare, should be consulted.
Copies of the Act and the
regulations are available for
reading in the Office of the
Dean of Undergraduate
Affairs. For a list of the
principal offices which
maintain student records and
the procedure for filing a
request to examine such
records, students are referred
to the Student Handbook for
1977-78. Either the Dean of
Undergraduate Affairs or the
Registrar will be glad to assist
students in locating their
records.
Any questions or problems
arising in connection with a
student's request to see his or
her records, or with the
correctness or privacy of such
records should be directed to
the Dean of Undergraduate
Affairs. Hearings will follow
normal student grievance
procedures.
None of the rights or
provisions of the Act apply to
students who have never
attended the educational
institution in question as an
enrolled student even though
they may have submitted an
application for admission to
the institution.
