Hola Dali!
The Surreal Ball
February 7, 1987
Surrealism a la Dali hit the
northeastern edge of downtown
Houston when the School of
Architecture threw its annual
Archi-Arts Ball. The ball was held
in the huge atrium of the
Mercado del Sol.
Ball chairman Scott Harmon
seemed to have the perfect
combination of fish, mannequin
parts, lawn darts, two-headed
calves, etc., to turn the old
Mercado into a real surrealist
ballroom.
The members of the Court of
the 1.987 Archi-Arts Ball were:
Charles Ren for as Max Ernst,
Cattryn Somers as Giorgio de
Chirico, David Guthrie as Luis
Bunuel, Dr. Richard Ingersoll as
Rene Magritte, Kieran Triehey as
Yves Tanguy, Wendy Price as Man
Ray, Myriam Bellazoug as Joan
Miro, and OJ. (BOY, BOY, BOY,
lobster) Jumean stole the show as
Salvador Dali.
The Tex-Mex dinner was
catered by Adrian's Restaurante y
Cantina. The music was by
"nuevo huevo" rocker Joe "King"
Carrasco and the Crowns.
