8 FRIDAY, AUGUST 23, 1991 THE RICE THRESHER
Matriculation
/
1
Freshmen enjoyed a more scenic Matriculation
than in previous years, as the ceremony was
moved outside to Founder's Court this year.
Student Association President Mitra Miller spoke
about Student Involvement and the freshman
five. President Rupp's speech about
individualism from a consumer society, however,
was upstaged at one point as one of three
bananas ran through the ceremony. Two bananas
got away, but the other was caught by the campus
police. No charges were filed.
