own hall meeting about Bastrop s Main Street is hursday
A team of downtown revi-
talization professionals will
visit Bastrop April 17-19 to
conduct a Resource Team
visit and assessment to pro-
vide recommendations and
suggestions for the communi-
ty's first year as a Texas Main
Street city and beyond. The
activity has been a part of the
Texas Main Street tradition
for more than 25 years.
During the Resource Team
visit, team members assess
the condition and the poten-
tial of the new Texas Main
Street community and help
develop a plan of action under
the Main Street formula. The
recommendations range from
relatively simple, low-cost
activities to more complex
projects. In this assessment
process, team members will
visit with, among others,
community members, busi-
ness and building owners,
and representatives of local
government and civic organi-
zations.
The team will conclude
their visit with a Town Hall
meeting at 6 p. 111. on Thursday,
April 19, at Paul Quinn
African Methodist Episcopal
Church, 1108 Walnut Street at
Haysel Street, one of the city's
restored historic churches.
The public is welcome and
encouraged to attend.

Team coming to Bastrop

Johnston; Sarah Page, eco-
nomic development specialist

Texas Main Street Program
staff members Debra Farst,
Jill Robinson, Wayne Bell,
Howard Langner, Eleanor
Elbin, Adam Alsobrook and
Robert Johnson.
Soon after the visit, the
Texas Main Street Program
will deliver a Resource Team
Manual detailing the sugges-
tions of the team. As an offi-
cial Texas Main Street city,
there is no cost to Bastrop
for the services. Similarly,
local business and building
owners, board members and
others involved in the Bastrop
Main Street Program district
can get free professional
advice and technical exper-
tise in the areas of design/
architecture, merchandising,
board and leadership training
and economic development
from the Texas Main Street
Program.
