ROUND ROCK - Bastrop
came out flat Friday night.
Round Rock dominated from
the opening kickolT and scored a
49-19 non-district victory over
Bastrop at Dragon stadium.
Round Rock running back
Marcus Jackson put in a command-
ing performance with 232 yards
and three touchdowns in just 17
minutes of playing time. The sen-
ior carried the ball 13 times for 232
yards to put himself in the Round
Rock record books.
The performance is third best in
Round Rock history. Monroe
Daniels holds the single game
record for rushing yards with 342
on 23 carries against Fairfield in
1969.
The Dragons scored on seven of
the eight 8 possessions in the first
half to take command, 49-12.
Jackson scored on runs of 9, 39
and 39 yards in the first half.
Bastrop's first score came when
quarterback Matt Homesley hit

Jacob Thomas on a 54 yard slant
pattern with 9:06 left in the open-
ing period. Bastrop scored again
on Homesley's 13 yard yard pass
across the middle to Ray Ross.
In the second half Round Rock
called off it's first stringers and did
not score. Bastrop put together
some running and ball control to
help run out the clock. Neither
team score in the third period. In
the fourth quarter Bastrop put
together a 13-play 72-march.
Homesley hit Jacob Thomas in the
back end zone for a 20-yard touch-
down with 10:23 left in the game.
The touchdown came on a fourth
and ten play.
Bastrop's best weapons all night
were receivers Ray Ross and Jacob
Thomas. Ross caught four passes
for 53 yards and Thomas hauled in
three catches for 85 yards.
Thomas scored twice on strikes
from Homesley. Homesley fin-
ished the game 7 of 19 for 138
yards.
The loss drops the Bears to 0-2
on the season going into their home
opener next week against Hays.
Westlake
tops spikers
The Bastrop Lady Bears volleyball team
fell to 0-2 in District 25-5A action with a
Tuesday loss to district favortive Westlake at
Bastrop High School.
The Lady Bears fell, 25-6, 25-12, 25-12.
and stand 2-15 overall and 0-2 in district.
Westlake improved to 24-1 overall and 2-0.
Bastrop's Allison Beck, Hannah Voight
and Erica Anderson led the team in kils.
Beck and Voight had three each and
Anderson added two kills.
Rachel Clardy and Brooke Bresnehan
paced the team, combining for seven assists.
Sabrina Hilbig, Karli Honeycutt and
Sydney Wilhelm played solid defense and
combinewd for 20 digs.
Adnerson added three blocks, Wilhelm
two and Beck one.
Bastrop played Akms Friday.
Elgin continues to set the pace in District
17-4A play.
The Lady'Cats earned a five-match dis-
trict win streak into its match with
McCallum.

An opening weekend
packed with games for FC
Arsenal proved to be suc-
cessful. Five victories
from nine games got the
FC Arsenal teams off to a
strong start.

son for the '93 Boys saw
them come out on top
against Lonestars at
Lover's Lane. This was an
encouraging performance,

strong for the 93 Boys in
their second game of the
weekend. The 93B could-
n't reproduce the result
from Saturday.

The Thursday evening golf scram-
bles will end for the season next week at
Lost Pines Golf Course.
In the next to last event of the season,
Robert Jenkins, Dempsey Hibbs and
Robert Wiley won with a 6-under score
of 30.
Taking second was Ray Longoria,
Robert Bennett and James Bennett5
witha 4-under par 32.
Third-place finishers were A.J.
Zimmerhanzel, Kenny Clifton and
Trevor Osborn, also shooting a 4-under
32.
Two teams shot 3-under including
Stacy Bowlin, Brad Bowlin and Scottie
Vandiver; and Rodney Soza, Monte
Gambol. Charlie Parobek and Jim
Seiner.
Firing 2-under 34 was the team of

R.C. Hollmann plays golf often at
Lost Pines Golf Course. The veter-
an said he doesn't drive the ball as
far as he used to, but he makes his
share of putts. Hollmann is an avid
