Bastrop Police Report
• On March 25, at 3:15
p.m. Officer Ken Yarbrough
was dispatched to 609 B.
Linden in reference to a
criminal trespass in progress.
Investigation at the scene
resulted in the probable
cause arrest of one suspect,
James Douglas Williams
II, 31, of Bastrop. Williams
was arrested and charged
with criminal trespass habit/
superfund/ i nfr astructi on.
• On March 25, Officer
Wesley Dale Hamrick
cited a suspect for shoplift-
ing $15.98 of items from
H-E-B, according to the
police report. A 45-year-old
Smithville woman was cited
for theft under $50 and for
driving without a driver's
license.
• On March 24, at 7:50
p.m., Officer Travis Lucas
was dispatched to a call at 101
Remington in the Hunter's
Crossing subdivision in ref-
erence to an animal com-
plaint. The complainant said
that she and her dogs were
attacked by two other dogs
and the other dogs' owner
was using profane language
to her. The owner of the
dogs, a 36-year-old Bastrop
man, was cited for disorderly
conduct for use of profane
language in a public place.
Three witness statements
were taken. The report was
to be forwarded to Animal
Control.
• On March 24, at 6:30
p.m., Officer Hamilton was
dispatched to the Bastrop
County Sheriff's Office in
reference to an assault—
family violence that had
occurred earlier in the day.
Hamilton made contact
with the female and took
her statement. There were
no warrants or arrests made
in conjunction with the inci-
dent, but it remains under
investigation by Det. Tamra
Brown.
• On March 24, Officer
Kenneth Mack was dis-
patched to the Sac N Pac
convenience store at Texas
95 and Texas 21 for an
intoxicated subject. This call
resulted in the arrest of Phillip
Lee Aliff, 46, a Bastrop area
transient, on one charge of
public intoxication as well as
two outstanding municipal
warrants.
• On March 24, at 7:20
a.m., Officer Jason Pierson
was dispatched to Wal-Mart
in reference to a burglary of
a vehicle. Unknown persons
entered a vehicle and stole a
CD player. There are no sus-
pects at this time, according
to the report.
• On March 23, Sgt. Clint
Nagy conducted a roadside
narcotics investigation on
Industrial Drive near Texas
71. Upon use of canine and
conclusion of this investiga-
tion, one suspect was cited
for possession of drug para-
phernalia.
• On March 23, Officer
Mack was dispatched to the
Capital Rural Area Transit
system park and ride lot at
310 Hospital Drive in ref-
erence to a hole that had
been cut into a fence. The
reportee, the site manager,
was standing by to speak
with an officer. No suspects
were listed for the criminal
mischief.
• On March 24, Officer
Mack was dispatched to the
BCSO lobby for a subject
wanting to turn himself in
on several municipal war-
rants. Subject's name was
Daniel M. Mendoza, 21, of
Dale, with warrants issued
in connection with Bastrop
Police Department cases.
On his way to the BCSO,
Mack stopped by the BPD
and picked up four warrants
from the municipal court for
Mendoza's arrest. Two of the
warrants were for disorderly
conduct, one for truancy and
the last for curfew violation.
Mendoza was arrested for
the warrants.

The Bastrop County Citizen's Sheriff's Academy Alumni Association unani-
mously voted to give a $1,000 check to the wildfire victims relief fund. Here,
Stan Whites, pastor of Cedar Creek United Methodist Church, left center,
receives the check from Vicki James, the association's secretary. Evan
Westerburg, Pat New, Chief Deputy Charlie Littleton, DJ Pereira, Marcelo
Sanchez, Hank James, Sheriff Terry Pickering, Hank James and Deputy
Rusty Kohler participated in the check presentation Monday.
Smithvi e fundraiser s ated
The Smithvillle Independent Order of
Odd Fellows & Rebekah Lodges will host
their semi-annual fundraiser on Sunday,
April 5 at the lodge hall at 406 Turney in
Smithville. Barbecue chicken, potato salad,
beans, a variety of desserts and trimmings
are included. Lunch will be served from 11
a.m. until food runs out.
Adult plates are $6.75 and children under
10 are $4.50. To-go plates are available. A
portion of the proceeds from the barbecue
chicken dinner help benefit the group's schol-
arships to graduating seniors of Smithville
and Bastrop High Schools.
Democrats to meet April 2
Business Briefs
The Bastrop County Democratic Club
will meet Thursday, April 2 at 7 p.m. at the
Argent Court Assisted Living Residence,
508 Old Austin Highway (next to HEB) in
Bastrop.
To encourage maximum attendance and
participation, the club alternates month-
ly meetings between Bastrop, Elgin and
Smithville.
The meeting is informal and all citi-
zens are encouraged to attend, regardless of
political party. Participants are asked to park
in the H-E-B parking lot (closest to Argent
Court), if possible.
•United Country Real Estate recently announced that United Country - Bastrop Real
Estate Associates, located in Bastrop, has achieved the company's President's Honor Group
Award for 2008. This award was only earned by 10 percent of United Country's nearly 675
offices coast-to-coast.
•Thomas "Tommy" Frizell has been employed by Classic Bank as vice president, Business
Development. The bank plans a mid-2009 opening.
