GIRLS SOCCER
Bastrop defeats Waco,
continue their domination
GEORGETOWN —
The Bastrop Lady Bears
continued their domina-
tion over opponents
Thursday with a 4-0 win
over Waco on the opening
day of the Lady
Governor's cup in
Georgetown.
Bastrop (7-0)
remained perfect on the
season and is outscoring
its opponents 30-1.
Kattie Patterson
upped her season total to
eight goals with two
against the Lady Lions.
Kaylyn Butler and
Alyssa Stover added the
other goals for Bastrop.
Gracy Mansfield and
Rebekah Spalding each
picked up assists.
Mansfield has seven goals
and three assists for the
season.
Bastrop continued
play in the Lady
Governor's Cup Friday.
— Michael Adams
NOTEBOOK: County
teams have made 202 3's
Editor's note: Boys basketball statistics were not
received this week at press time. Scoring leaders
were updated from available box scores.
Continued from Page B1
averaged 15.3 PPG and
had 29 total three-point-
ers.
She has made a three-
pointer in nine consecu-
tive games and has scored
in double-digits in seven
of the last 10 games.
She is currently fourth
in scoring with 8.6 PPG
among all players in
Bastrop County.
County becoming
three-point country
If college recruiters
want a three-point shoot-
er, they may want to start
looking in Bastrop County.
Bastrop County varsi-
ty teams have combined
for 202 three-point field
goals this season.
That's 606 points from
three-point land.
As a team, Elgin has
the most with 85, while
ironically, Smithville —
with three-point hot shot
Blakelee Saunders — has
the fewest with 51.
And if you want to
know who's the best, it's a
race between Saunders,
last-year's scoring leader
in Bastrop County, and
Hillari Raemsch.
Saunders has made 38
while Raemsch has 36.
Saunders broke a
Smithville record with 106
last season as a sopho-
more.
If you go buy percent-
ages, Raemsch is much
more accurate from the
three-point arch, shooting
34.3 percent while
Saunders is shooting 28.8
percent.
However, the chain
doesn't stop there.
Elgin has three players
who have made a com-
bined 85 three's.
Tiffany Wong has 28
made and is shooting 32
percent from behind the
three-point line.
Desarae Couthren and
Jasmine Simmons have
29 and 28 three's, respec-
tively.
