In addition to the numerous meetings announced in this issue,
two decisions rendered by the Attorney General are signifi-
cant. One deals with an opinion requested by the Comptroller
of Public Accounts as to whether salary supplements made
with gift funds must be reported to the Secretary of State. The
other, requested by the Director of the Merit System Council,
concerns the public disclosure of the examinations conducted
by that agency.
Also of particular note are the proposed rules of the Texas
Education Agency which seek the amendment of the procedure
for the adoption of textbooks for state public schools. The rule
changes would allow TEA more flexibility in scheduling the
