[Meeting in Emily Fowler Public Library]
Description
Photograph of the Emily Fowler Library Board meeting around a table, drinking wine, and eating finger food inside the staff breakroom at the Emily Fowler Public Library. Patricia Warde, Board Chair, is the woman in the red jacket in the upper left. David Speck, Vice-Chair, is second from the right in the big collared shirt. A globe-shaped lamp made by the Beaumont Mood Lighting Co. is hanging overhead.
Denton's first public library opened on June 6, 1937, in Denton County Courthouse. It quickly outgrew the space and in 1949, the City of Denton donated a tract of land on Oakland Street for a new library.
