2. The Men's Inter-Club and the Women's Inter-Club Councils have initial
jurisdiction over their members (clubs and individuals) relating to
misconduct when problems are directly associated with club activities
and programs. The Men's Inter-Club Council will handle cases involv-
ing men alone while the Women's Inter-Club Council will handle cases
involving women alone. In cases involving men and women club members
or programs of one or more men's and women's clubs, a joint Inter-Club
Council will hear the case. Appeals from the Inter-Club Councils are to
be made to the Student Court and thence to the Judicial Board and the
President of the College, respectively.
3. The Court serves as an appellate body for cases arising in the Residence
Hall Executive Councils and the Inter-Club Councils and in cases of
Senate disciplinary action.
4. The Vice-President for Student Services exercises initial jurisdiction
over acts of physical violence committed upon another person, theft,
possession or sale of narcotics or legally controlled substances, illicit
visitations in the residence halls, and all other cases not delegated to
other judicial bodies, with appeals to the College Judicial Board and
the President of the College.
5. The McMurry College Judicial Board handles appeals from the Student
Supreme Court and the V. P. for Student Services of McMurry, as
specified above, involving judgments of probation, suspension, expulsion,
and alleged violations of due process. Appeals from this board may be
made to the President of McMurry College.
6. The President of McMurry College, or his Administrative Assistant in
his absence, will hear appeals growing out of decisions rendered by the
McMurry College Judicial Board, when so requested by a defendant and
verified by the Judicial Board. It will be the responsibility of the
presiding officer and the secretary of the Judicial Board to provide the
President of the College with all relevant hearing records and the
defendant's request for appeal (Forms 1970. 01 and 1970. 02).
F. Other guides including due process procedures to be observed:
1. McMurry Forms 1970. 01 and 1970. 02, and 1970. 03, and the specifications
as prescribed thereon by the Judicial Board are to be observed in all
hearings of alleged misconduct unless otherwise directed by the
Judicial Board.
2. The defendant, his/her Faculty Advisor, and up to two witnesses will be
permitted to testify and present relevant statements. More than two
witnesses will be permitted to testify at the discretion of the hearing
body. 21
