TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS
The campus Traffic Officer has been authorized to place a traffic
ticket on any vehicle violating a regulation. The original copy of the
ticket is left on the vehicle and a duplicate copy is submitted to the
Student Services Office.
You will not be called to pay fines. Fines are to be paid to the
cashier at the Business Office within 10 days of the violation unless
other arrangements have been made. Fines MUST be paid before you take
final exams, officially withdraw from college, transfer to another
college, re-enroll at this college or obtain a transcript of credits.
The following will be considered violations:
1. Failure to display in the prescribed manner a valid McMurry College
Vehicle registration sticker.
2. Falsification of information on motor vehicle registration application.
3. Parking in any area designated as reserved by white border on the curb.
4. Parking in any area designated as restricted by red border on the curb,
pavement, or wall (loading zones, driveways, corners, fire hydrants,
garbage disposal units, cross walks, or sidewalks).
5. Parking in any general area that is restricted by signs to student
parking or faculty parking. The parking lot north and east of the
Maedgen Building and the two south of Old Main are reserved for
faculty, staff. There is ample student parking north of Radford,
west of the campus center, by the residence halls and in the
Aldersgate Church lot.
6. Double parking.
7. Parking across lines.
8. Parking in areas not designated for parking (on sidewalks, on grass,
etc.).
9. Exceeding 20 miles per hour speed limit.
10. Running stop sign or failing to yield right-of-way.
11. Driving on sidewalks or grass or any area of the campus not designed
for traffic.
12. Altering, damaging or removing college traffic signs, markers, or
signal devices. Penalty - Maximum $200 fine plus disciplinary action.
FINES AND PENALTIES
There is a flat S10.00 fine for each ticket received. If a person
receives three tickets, probation will result and upon receiving a
fourth ticket the person will be banned from driving on campus. If
your car is parked in a red area, marked fire lane - tow away zone, it
will be towed at your expense and impounded by the college until you
pay for the cost of towing and impounding.
APPEALS
The student has the right to contact the Student Service Office
(OM 102) regarding any error or question concerning a traffic violation.
No protest on any parking violation will be considered unless such is
made within five class days following the date of the ticket.
