established procedure regarding search of personal belongings. These exceptions

officials a clear and immediate danger to the safety of the building and/or its
occupants exists.
QUIET HOURS - The noise level in or near the residence halls should always
(weekends included) be such that residents may study or sleep. For consideration
of all residents please always think of others. Quiet hours are observed in and
near the residence halls daily from 10:00 P.M. to 8:00 A.M. During these hours radios,
record and tape players, musical instruments, and television sets should be kept
at a lower volume. There should be no loud conversations or other noises in or
near the residence halls. Dead Week and Final Exam Week are used for intensive study,
therefore, residents are asked to observe quiet hours at all times.
REFRIGERATORS - Some of the residence halls have refrigerators on each floor
and in the kitchen. Food in these refrigerators which does not belong to you is
to be left alone. These are defrosted regularly and notices will be posted. All
perishables left in the refrigerators will be disposed of when it is cleaned.
A limited number of small room-size refrigerators are available
for lease from the College on a first-come, first-pay basis. Arrange-
ments are made through the residence hall director. These refrigerators
will be checked from time to time for cleanliness.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR PERSONAL BELONGINGS - Each student is issued a key to his/
her room upon moving into the residence hall, and is responsible for his/her possess-
ions. The residence hall staff is not in a position to control the removal of personal
possessions from unlocked rooms. Therefore, it is highly urged that doors be kept
locked at all times when the student is not in the room. It is advisable to label
all possessions. If you are lucky enough to have money, please DO NOT leave it
lying out on the desk, bed, or table when you are not in your room. Put it in a
safe place and do not advertise that you have money. To be on the safe side give
it to your residence hall director who will lock it up for you.
McMurry College assumes no responsibility for possessions belonging to
residents which may be damaged or stolen during a semester or between semesters.
If anything is found missing report it IMMEDIATELY to your resident hall director.
Residence hall directors or others are not authorized to admit anyone to a room
except the legal occupant.
RESERVING ROOMS FOR THE FOLLOWING SEMESTER - Prior to the end of the fall and
spring semesters each resident will be asked to complete a form to reserve a room
for the following semester or terms. Each student may request a particular room
and roommate which the resdience hall director will attempt to fulfill.
ROOM CARE - Students are responsible for the care and cleanliness of their
rooms. Room checks regarding property, damage, repairs, and cleanliness will be
made periodically by the residence hall assistant and/or other college officials.
(Residents of Hunt and Martin Halls are responsible for cleaning their bathrooms).
Vacuum cleaners are available in each hall and must be checked out, When you are
through with the vacuum, please clean the brushes and return immdeiately.
Repair needs should be written on a card and handed to the residence hall
director.
