ACADEMIC ADVISEMENT - Upon enrolling in McMurry College each student
is assigned a faculty advisor who assists the student with his academic program
and takes a personal interest in the student's progress. Students who declare a
major are assigned advisors from the department of their major subject while
those who declare an"undecided" major are given a temporary advisor. Changes
of major and/or advisor are made with the Academic' Advisor ( Old Main #214).
No student may register for any course, add or drop a course, or alter his
program of study in any manner without the approval of his advisor.
HEALTH SERVICES
The College operates a health care clinic which is staffed by a
nurse practitioner. The services of the clinic are available to students,
faculty, and staff at McMurry free of charge. Many health services are
offered through the clinic. Complete physical exams including sports
physicals, allergy injections, blook pressure checks, diet counseling
including weight loss and health counseling are just a few examples.
It is advised that when a student needs some form of health care
that he go to the nurse first unless it is an emergency or a problem
that cannot wait until the clinic is open. Often the nurse can provide
for the need herself. If a referral is necessary she is familar with
the proper resources in Abilene.
If a referral is made or if a student makes an appointment on his
own the student is responsible for all bills and charges.
The clinic is located at the south side of President Hall and is
open from 9:15 - 11:15 a.m., Monday - Friday, phone ext. 362.
