GET YOUR COPY READY.
Those who have contracted for ad
space in the Special Irrigation Edi-
tion are asked to get their "copy"
for the ads ready at once—now.
The first run is off the press, and
the others will be made as fast as
the material can be gotten together.
We have been delayed to some ex-
tent on account of power. That will
be remedied at once.
To those who have not contracted
for space we would urge them to do
so at once. The edition will be a re-
presentative one and no Hereford
business firm—be it large or small—
should be without advertising space
in its pages. Whether you take a
large space or a small space, at
least let the outside world and some
of the home people find out that you
are in business. Whether there was
a line of reading matter in the edi-
tion or not, we have gone to enough
expense in buying new "cuts" alone
to make it a good one. Label it the
Hereford Country and it would be
worth the money. It will be filled
with interesting matter concerning
the Panhandle in general and especi-
ally that best part of it, The Here-
ford Country. A good portion of it
will be devoted to irrigation, and be-
sides a discussion of the great
adaptability of the Hereford country
to irrigation, several valuable irri-
gation articles will appear. It will
give you county and local history
that has slipped your mind. The
big double page devoted to our great
state is an enclycopedia of valuable
information. The churches, secret
orders, schools, county and city in-
stitutions, etc., all come in for their
share in the publicity. It will be
full of good stuff from cover to cover.
Primarily its object is to give to
people who are interested in the
Hereford country and Hereford and
its neighboring communities a cor-
rect sum total of the big advantages
and opportunities we offer to the
world. Copies of this edition will
find their way to every state in the
Union, to Mexico, to Alaska, to
Canada. Requests for one, for five,
for ten copies are coming in each
day from every where, by individuals
who are already interested in the
country and the town and want to
get their friends interested. The
big amount of virtually free adver-
tising our town and country will re-
ceive from this edition will run into
the thousands of dollars. W* are
doing everything in our power to
make this an edition that will not
disappoint them. Have you con-
tributed your share toward making
the big total? If not, then get busy.
ITGETS" BETTER.
The second number of the Texas
Panhandle Magazine came to our
desk this week. Its editor, Walter
E. Gunn, deserves much credit for
the success that is attending this
publication. The April issue con-
tains along with Panhandle develop-
ment talk, several good short stories,
while the pictoral section is especially
commendable.
An especially valuable article is
"Selling a Cattle Empire," by John
McDonald. Garret Dobbin dis-
courses oa "Oooortunity.'' whilt
Joseph E. Farrow in "The Prey of
the Yellowbacks'* deals with the
passing of the old era and the en-
thronement of the man with the plow.
The fiction storiea are from the pens
of well known writers, and exception-
ally interesting and amusing. The
magazine is full of good stuff from
front to back, the pictures alone
are worth the price of the subscrip-
tion. This magazine should have
the support of every citilen of the
Panhandle, and especially of the
Hereford country. It is filling ably
a long felt need. You can nave it
once a month by sending a dollar to

SUGGESTION TO COUNCIL.
That part of Main street from the
First Christian church north to the
section line needs to be regraded
and crowned. It is the roughest
section of street in town. In places
the crown is too high and at other
points too low. In fact all of Main
street needs a little attention to make
it the best thorofare in the Panhan-
dle.
Water, soil and sunshine, these
three and all three are greatest at
Hereford.
Her Life a Burden.
Ratcliff, Tex. In a letter from
Ratcliff, Mrs. Mattie Campbell says,
"My health was very bad. I suf-
fered untold misery apery month,
and at times, I wisbe/ for death to
end my suffering^ fo/life was a bur-
den to me. I we/Cardui, and it
helped me righMyay. Cardui has
stopped my airing, made life
worth living,nod filled my home
with joy anamappiness." If you
suffer as Mr^Campbell did, Cardui
w;ll certainly help you, as it did her.

Hereford Banks Cut off Overdrafts.
The making of overdrafts is for-
bidden by our Banking laws, both
State and National, and the Officer
of the Bank permitting such practice
is held personally responsible for the
overdraft he allows.
Besides, the practice itself is un-
fair to the Bank, tends to misunder-
standings between Bank and Custo-
mer and is oftentimes productive of
much annoyance when a favored and
otherwise appreciated customer im-
poses on the Banket by putting a
check in circulation Jthicb will over
draw his accouut.
For these and
