Editor Hereford
Dear Sir: I am aot going to say
thnt Hereford ie the best place ea
earth aad that we are annioue to
get bach, but whea ws got caught ia
a regular old fashioned blissard at
Palawt Lake, Colorado, we thought
Hereford would look good to us.

Snturday nfteraooa, May 15 th, aad
reached Dalhart, a distsnce of 85
asilee, in good time thnt evening.
The nest dsy we drove to latoa,
New Mesico. About thirty milee of
the road is very sandy and with a
strong wind blowing and also tire
troubles, we had rather n disagree-
abie trip thnt dny: but in epite of
thnt we sonde good time and enjoyed
nt lenet n part of the 140 mile ride,
end after n food night'e reet and n
hearty breakfast we were ready for
our neat dny's ride.
At Rnton we began the climb over
the Raton Pass. Raton is st an al-
titude of 6,800 feet, yet in going
over the poee, n diatnnce of sbout
ten milee, we climbed tonn elevntion
of over 9.000 feet. The eeenery is
fine, but as the rood on the New
Mesico side is very rough, and in
many places cut out of solid rock
along the mountain side with barely
room to run a ear, I left the scenery
part to Mrs. Morgan and told her
she could tell me some other time
how it looked. At the top of the
divide we came to the Colorado
state line. Here the ronds are in
fine condition, having recently been
dragged, and with brakes set and
engine switched off we glided down
the mountnin, winding in and out
among the big trees, and finally
reaching the bottom in a beautiful
little valley.
From here with good roads and
1 ovely scenery it was but a few min-
utes ride into Trinidnd. We did
not intend to etop at Triaidad, but
when a big policeman waved bis club
in front of us aad bawled out "slow
