Youthful Advisors
Want Cake Break
is
Probably two of the youngest
advisors connected with the Unit
ed States Army were given a first
class view of the operations of Di
vision Trains 2d Armored Divi
sion Saturday April 25.
They were Tenderfoot Scout Da
niel D. Murphy 12-year-old son of
SFC and Mrs. L. T. Murphy and
Star Scout Dennis I. Reeves 12-
year-old son of M-Sgt. and Mrs.
Harold Reeves.
The two scouts from Troop
125 at Fort Hood were given
desks in Col. William L. Wells
office.
Col. Wells commander pre
sented his two advisors with their
orders making them Scout Ad
visors until midnight Saturday.
Scouts Reeves of the Beaver
Patrol and Murphy of the Ran
ger Patrol were later taken on
tour of Division Trains by Col.
Wells.
"We saw the men being treat
ed and given shots at the dispen
sary" Scout Murphy said. He
lidded that taking shots didn't ap-
tear to be "too much fun."
But he did think "coffee call"
was easy to take. The scouts ad
vised Col. Wells that ice cream
and cake should be given to the
men during the morning break.
Col. Wells didn't disagree
with his young aides. But he
didn't say yes observers
noticed.
He did look favorably on two
other suggestions made by the
youths. The scouts asked him to
attend several meetings and help
in promotion ceremonies.
The youths also would like help
when they go to camp May 1-3.
Later Col. Wolls took the youths
on an inspection tour of the 124th
Ordnance Battalion and the 2d
Quartermaster Battalion. They
later had reserved seats (as VIPs
at the farewell review of the 2d
Missile Command which is going
to Fort Carson Colo.
They ate lunch at the 142nd Sig
nal Battalion after the review.
