WHY SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE
PAY BILLS BY CHECK
They don't want to risk loss by carrying large sums of money
around with them. They don't want to waste time running all
over town to pay bills in cash. They do want a bonafide recipt
(their cancelled checks) for every payment they mdke. They
do want a clear record of how much they spent for what.

John Hollingsworth still is

the last three games and now
has 220 points and a 13.8 aver

Center Comets (Jan. 13) and
Kelly AFB (Jan. 14) ripped the
Tankers by 79-70 and 72-61 scores
respectively while the Hood five
ended up on the long end of a
73-62 score against the Howard
Payne University Freshmen Jan.
16.
In the Comet clash a rematch
of an earlier 75-74 Tanker win
the Brooke quintet capitalized on
23 Hood fouls to score 23 charity
points. They missed but eight for
a percentage of 74.2. The Tankers
made 16 of 24 a 66.7 percentage.
As in the first Tanker-Com-
et clash the Comets held a
comfortable intermission bulge
and the Tankers had to bat
tle back. However this time
the Hood rally wasn't enough.
The Kelly airmen deadlocked
by the Tankers in scoring from
the field outscored the Tanker
five 22-11 from the foul line to
take the victory their second over
the Tankers in as many outings.
Bill Bond topped the Comets
with 35 points while John Hollings-
worth with 14 Joe White with 12
and Sterling Baker with 10 led
the Tankers.
John Williams of the Kelly
team took game scoring honors
with 23 tallies. Jesse Swope scored
18 Homer Sheppard 16 and White
13 to pace the Tankers.
With White leading the way
with 17 tallies the Tankers
got back in their winning
ways dropping the HPU
Frosh for the second time this
season.
The Tankers exploded in the
last half after leading only 32-29
at halftime. They rattled the buck
et for 41 points to win going
away.
The Scots are one of the top
AAU teams in the South having
won the Southern Section AAU
crown twice in the last three sea:
sons and reached the quarterfi
nals of the national AAU champ
ionships twice.
The Scots present a balanced
offense with all five starters cap
able of hitting in double figures.
In the Tanker-Scot clashes in De
cember Andy McElveen was the
high man in both games with 23
and 26 points but all five aver
aged better than 10 points per
game.
Homer Sheppard was the most
effective Hood scorer against the
Scots with 13 points in each game.
He also grabbed the lion's share
of the Tanker rebounds.
After the Scot games the Tank
ers will journey to Oklahoma for
a two night stand (Tuesday and
Wednesday) against the Fort Sill
quintet.
These two games will be the
first meetings of the season be
tween the two teams and a good
indication of relative strengths of
am or he
