Family Picnic
NCOs of the 3d Artillery and
their families will gather at the
Lake Belton NCO club at one
o'clock Saturday afternoon for
their annual picnic.
The event marks the 148th
"birthday" of the 2d Armored
Division unit.
On the agenda for the afternoon
are swimming softball and other
games. Chow will include fried
chicken baked ham hot dogs
salad pickles and beverages.
First sergeants of all batteries
of the 3d organized the affair
vations are a dollar per person
and the buffet is $1.75. Happy
hour is at 5 p.m. and the buffet
is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Joe Johnson and his Dixieland-
ers will provide the music for
the informal dance Saturday from
8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Due to the large
number of parties scheduled for
the evening members are urged
to make reservations in advance.

Academy for a class its size. Of
135 who began the course 126
successfully completed it. The
class average was 84.15.

the 17th Engr. Bn. at the Fort
Hood Officers Club July 9.

past year was prepared by the
officers and NCO's of the bat
talion and presented to Col. Sut
ton.
Col. Sutton left Ft. Hood and
his duties as Division Engineer
and commanding officer of the
17th Engineer Battalion July 11.
Before receiving his next as
signment he will attend the Army
War College Carlisle Barracks
Col. Sutton also served as pres
ident of the Central Texas Chap
ter of the Society of American
Military Engineers while at Fort
Hood.
Before his assignment here in
August of '59 Col. Sutton was in
Iceland as the Assistant Chief of
Staff for Logistics Hq. Iceland
