DAYROOMS ON PARADE Remodeling dayrooms takes time
and talent but the final result is worth the effort. In the top

Renovation jobs in 2d Armored
Division dayrooms have urned
bare rooms into attractive areas
for soldiers to spend off-duty
hours.
Dayrooms in old style barracks
were formery barren sterile
places with little beauty and few
comforts. Now in most old day-
rooms a transformation has
taken place.
The biggest change and
probably the most attractive
took place in the dayrooms
of the 58th Infantry. The
areas are still small but their
looks are tops.

Teaching Film
Slated At REC
The second in a series of eight
color filmstrips on "Successful
Teaching" will be shown this Sun
day at 5:30 p.m. to officers and
teachers of the Protestant Sunday
School in the Parlor of Bldg. 443
of the Religious Education Cen
ter.
This second filmstrip is entitled
"The Pupil." The first one last
Sunday was "The Teacher."
An added feature this Sunday
will be a movie in color entitled
'No Vacant Chairs."
All present teachers and those
who may some day teach are
urged to attend.
SAFEGUARDING COUNTRY
Out of a national need for mili
tary defense and economic stabi
lity the Savings Bonds volunteer
task force began to sell savings
bonds in May 1941. These are
still sound reasons for buying
them in 1961.
The future is where we'll all
spend the rest of our lives. From

_sgt. Raymo
Donegan said: "We're still work
ing on it."
In Co. C four men worked an
average of five hours a day for
a week to remodel the dayroom
Now according to 1st Sgt. Robert
Fields: "You can't get into it be
cause it stays full all the time
after duty hours."
Other units in old barracks
including the 16th and 78th
Artillery and the 142d Signal
Bn. have also remodeled
some of their dayrooms.
In each case the work was done
by the troopers themselves. Some
worked only during duty hours
while others both daytime and at
night to get the job done. For all
of the men it was a "labor of
love" and no job is done better
than one that will benefit the
worker.
