mander at a tea Monday July 17
at the Fort Hood Officer's Open
Mess.
The tea table was a large one
shaped like the letter X with
silver services at each end cov
ered in white and gently draped
in forget-me-not-blue. Each drape
was held by a rosette an
streamers of the same blue in
wide satin ribbons.
The centerpiece was a huge
epergne of silver with Doty chry
santhemums Agapantha lilies
pompom mums and baby breath
all sprayed in shades of blue. On
the tables were small old-fash
ioned bouquets of forget-me-nots
tied with tiny blue satin ribbons
which laced over the cloths.
The members of the executive
board of the OWC were the
hostesses and presided at the tea
and coffee services.
Mrs. Brown was presented with
a traveling case and a small per
sonal gift by club members. Spe
cial guests at the tea were Mrs.
T. J. Cloud and Mrs. Frank May-

family picnic at Pool Two Fort
Hood. Mrs. Michael Olesheytz
Mrs. Forrest R. Mickey and Mrs.
Carl M. Eubanks will be hostesses
in charge of arrangements. Mem
bers will provide food for their
families.
Ms. Mitchim stressed the im
portance of all officers' wives join
ing the Officers Wives Club and
reminded those present to renew
their memberships.

The program for the morning

It will also be Sign-Up Day for
the many entertaining and educa
tional activities that are being
presented for the fall season.

Wives had their first summer cof
fee at the home of Mrs. Keith S.
Lain at Fort Polk La. July 11.
Refreshments were served with
Mrs. Dominick Coppino presiding
at the coffee service.
Plans were discussed for an Au
gust luncheon at the Fort Polk
Officers' Open Mess. Also on the
agenda were a staff aide course
for the wives and swimming les
sons for dependents.
Already underway are weekly
bridge meetings under the direc
tion of Mrs. James G. Valentine.
On alternate weeks the officers
are invited to attend making a
mixed bridge group.

Boy Scout Troop III returned
from Camp Tahuaya July 15 with
slightly sunburned noses and a
long list of camp honors and aqua
tics awards.
The weekly Camp Tahuaya
Aqua Carnival resulted in a
landslide of first places won
by the aqua-oriented Scouts of
Troop III.

Minimum age for enrollment

first grade and four years eight
months for kindergarten. These
ages must be attained not later
than September 1 1961.

In a flurry of training activity
the Leon Valley District Training
Committee has presented three
complete courses to adult Scout-
ers in the last two weeks.

Cub Scout Pack 125 will meet
July 30 at Baseball Diamond No.
1 near the YCAA Bldg. for a

to buy a 50-star American flag.
GIRL SCOUT ENROLLMENTS
Beginning August 1 enrollments
will be taken for Brownie Scout
and Girl Scout troops at the Fort
Hood Scout office in building 325
(Youth Center). Girls in 2d
through 12th grades are eligible
if sponsor has a current YCAA
membership.
Even though girls have been
in troops at Fort Hood previ
ously they must be enrolled
at this time if they wish to be
in a troop this coming school
year.
Enrollments may be telephoned
by calling the Scout office OV5-
5539 between 7:30 and 11:30 a.m.

style on the enclosed patio which
was decorated as a sidewalk cafe.
Over the entrance to the patio
was a red and white striped

d« 16th Artillerie."
Crepe paper streamers hung
from the tops of the windows and
the small dining room tables were
laid with red and white checked
tablecloths. The centerpieces were
wine bottles with candles in them.
As the guests entered they drew
cards from a deck and matched
them with cards on the tables to
find their places.

16th Artillery Party Night
An "Evening in Paris" was the
theme of a party attended by the
officers of the 16th Arty and their
guests Saturday evening July 9.
Battery officers hosted the
event.
Hostesses for the event were

Bush.
During the business meeting
conducted by Mrs. S. H. McKenty
Mrs. C. A. Everly was welcomed
to the group.
