To Orphanage
KILLEEN BASE Two
representatives from Killeen
Base presented the Waco State

$104.17 to an official of the
orphanage. 1st. Clarence Van

Frank Farar director of cottage

Killeen Base had hosted two

After the presentation

Not three hours after the
completition of the July 31 pay
call the 169th Maint. Ba 13th
Spt. Bde. exceeded its $1250
Army Emergency Relief fund
drive goal according to the
battalion's commander Lt. Col.
Jose A. Martinez.
At first count contributions
from 169th personnel exceeded
$1400. Commenting on this
achievement Martinez said "We
have exceeded our goal with
every member of this command
on in an
personnel continue to donate. I
believe our personnel have
recognized a worthy need and
simply have a desire to fulfill
it. It is evident that the
members of this command
realize that the AER is an Army
project for Army personnel—in
other words 'The Army takes
care of its own'."
It was the 995th Maint. Co.
one of the 169th's subordinate
units that distinguished itself
as the first unit on Ft. Hood
to achieve 100 per cent of its
AER goal. And the response
to the AER fund drive at 995th
ha in to be
overwhelming according to the
company commander 2d Lt.
William D. Garey.
