3 Changes
In Command
The 1st Bn. 3rd Arty. 2nd
Armd. Div. under the command
of Lt. Col. J. E. Drummond
conducted a triple change of
command at the battery level
Friday May 28. The three
simultaneous ceremonies in
volved batteries C and
Service Btry.
The changes amounted to a
round robin among battery com
manders to fill the newly
created vacancy of Capt. Phillip
Karam. Karam formerly com
mander of Battery B is on tem
porary duty orders to Ft. Ben-
ning where he will undergo
airborne training and will then
report to Ft. Sill for the ad
vanced officer's course in
artillery.
First Lt. Mark F1 us he
formerly battalion assistant S-3
replaced Capt. Thomas Fox as
commander of Service Battery.
Flusche is to be promoted to
captain on Friday June 4. Fox
will move to Btry. to fill
the command vacancy of
Karam.
Capt. Richard Tilley replaced
Capt. James J. Stowe II as
commander of Btry. C. Stowe
will take Flusche's place as bat
talion assistant S-3.
All of the officers involved
in the rotation are familiar with
the artillery roles that they will
be filling and are expected to
make the transition with little
difficulty.

Ceremony
Last Friday the 124th Maint.
Bn. honored six of its men in
an early morning ceremony.
With the entire battalion the
2nd Amrd. Div.'s largest mass
ed for the ceremony battalion
commander Lt. Col. Charles D.
Yoder presented two Bronze
Stars two Army Commendation
Medals with oak leaf clusters
and two Army Commendation
Medals. Five of the awards were
or re vi in
Republic of Vietnam. One was
for service here at Ft. Hood.
Staff Sgt. Norman L.
Blakeney Co. B. was awarded
the Bronze Star for meritorious
service while engaged in conflict
with a hostile armed force in
Vietnam. Staff Sgt. William
McWilliams Co. A was the se
cond recipient of the Bronze
Star.
Staff Sgt. Roy Davis Spec.
4 James L. Reese Spec. 4 Billy
C. Johnson and CW2 George H.
Long received the Army Com
mendation Medal. Davis' award
was with an oak leaf cluster
as was Long's. Long received
his award for service while
assigned to the maintenance bat
talion.

DALLAS
The Jim Nabors Show" is the
first of the 1971 Dallas Summer
Musicals appearing at the State
Fair Music Hall. This show will
be held June 15 27. Season
tickets to the musicals are $30
$22.50 and $17.50. Performances
will be nightly except Monday
at 8:15 p.m. with matinees
Saturday and Sunday at 2:30
p.m. Mail orders will be ac
