'Through a cooperative agree
ment between Central Texas
College and the Florida Institute
of Technology residents of the
central Texas area can now earn
a master's degree in two fields
of graduate study" announced
Gene B. Oppy director of the
Ft. Hood education centers.
In June 1972 the two colleges
entered the unique agreement
whereby degree programs in
management science and com
puter science were to be offered
on the CTC campus and honored
by Florida. The classes are of
fered in the evening hours only
for off-duty attendance.
"Now with this program
personnel have graduate level
educational opportunities being
planned for them at Ft. Hood
for the first time" said Oppy.
The Florida Institute was
founded in 1958 as Brevard
Engineering College in
Melbourne Fla. It is now a
private coeducational university
with more than 2000 un
dergraduate students and 500
graduate students from 40 states
and 25 foreign countries.
Two categories of admission
to the graduate programs have
been outlined. "Regular" ad
mission requires an applicant
have a bachelor's degree from

"Provisional" admission allows
a student in his final semester
of undergraduate course work
to enroll in the program.
However no credit will be
granted for this graduate work

Under both programs a stu
dent must be approved by the
graduate Council at CTC. For
regular admission the student
must also receive approval of
the chairman of his department
No more than six hours of
graduate credit earned at
another accredited institution
will be accepted as transfer

degree explained Oppy. A grade
average of "B" or higher must
be maintained to satisfy degree
requirements. A total of 36
hours is required in each subject
area with six hours being
granted for special project work
as outlined by each department.
Two courses per semester are
normally considered a full load.
