We had a nice trip comlng up

Brice had a brother stationed in
Florida so we went by there and
stayed several days. We were very
fortunate to see his brothers a s
twb days after we were there he
left for foreign service.' We saw
some interesting things all along
the way. A place of beauty in
Florida was Wakula Springs. We
went riding in glass bottom boat,
these springs are clear and you
can see to the depth which is one
hundred and thirty-four feet. This
is the place were they make the
underwater "Tarzan" .pictures.
When we left Florida we came up
through Georgia and the Carolin-

Fort Belvoir, Va.
July 27, 1944
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Curry:
For several weeks I have been
intending to writo you and say
how very much I enjoy the Rev-
iew. You know it's strange just
how much you look forward! to a
home town paper. I find myself
doing just that. When some of we
children are away from home
mother and daddy send us the
paper and it's a nice gift every
week. I have especially-been en-
joying the letters from the men in
srvice. Jack Arthur has been hav-
ing some good letters in there.
Brice and I have surely traveled
some miles since last time we
were in Crosbyton. He had to re-
port to Fort Bliss, at El Paso on
the 16th of May and his orders
read Fort Belvoir, Va. to report
the 26th. He wasn't at all surpris-
ed that he was sent here as this
"IS" a big Engineer Post and all of
Officers that came back on the
same ship he did seem to be; here.
It makes it very nice beeause
jthey. ^njoy getting together t o
| talk over old times in the 46th.
! There .axe several .kere from Tex-
| as, a Lt. and Airs. Grimmer from
| Dallas, Capt. and Mrs. Brown
I from Wink and a Capt. and Mrs.
Broyles from Virginia. All thest?
were overseas. Capt. Boyles had
a movie camera over there and wc
have seen the pictures he took. He
made some wonderful pictures,
some colored, in Australia, New
Guinea and other Island they were
on. It sure thrilled me to see Brice
in some of them. The one that he
■looked happjer in was a picture
taken of them in. Sydney, Austra-
a.vjusfe after they found out they
were getting to come home. Some
of the movie film showed t h e
terrible country they were in, the
rain, mud and natives. He also
their Georgii* Stocks. We stopped
over a day ift Greer, South ^lir^
olina and visited some of Bricea'
cousins. They showed us real hos
pitality.
I~have always ~hud a desire to
see these states and I nSvcn-t*
been disappointed. The grass cov-.
ered rolling hills, honey suckles
covering both sides of the road,
wild roses blooming everywhere,
big trees and fine horses. It is a
very beautiful place..' V i
- Fort Belvoir is in a pretty loca-
tion, of course it gets so very hot
here but then there is generally
som'ethng wrong with every place.
The Fort is ten miles from Alex-
anderia, Va. fourteen from.Wash-
ington. The most traveled -high-
way, "they say" in.the world g°es
through the Fort, It is highway
No. 1 that is between Richmond
on to New York. The. big trucks
are on it constantly. Brice said the
traffic wasn't near like it was
though when he was here in 1941.
We live on the Post, have a big
eight room house. If we just lived
close to home we could sure have
some grand times having our fam-
ilies to come. We were fortunate
to get a house here as a very
limited number of officers live
here on the post. We had been j
here only a few days when Brice
was called in to see one of the^
Colonels. They had been looking
over his record and found he had
been motor pool officer for over
two years oversea. They wefe
needing an officer to handle the
Quartermaster motor pool so he
was giYeji the Job. Motor officers
live on the post so that is why.
we are here.
