medals, who is spending 21 days
with the home folks here after 31
months and 15 days overseas, in
Egypt, Italy and India and points
between. He once cooked a meal

Montgomery, ate. "Monty" is a
swell egg, Bill says, and all the
men like him very much and ad-

trict Court, 72nd Judicial District,
of Crosby County at the Court

as, at or befere 10 o'clock A. M.
of the first Monday next after the
expiration of forty-two days from
the date oft the issuance of this ci-
tation, same being the 2?rd day of
April A. D. 1945, then and there
to answer Plaintiffs Petition filed
in said £ourt, on the 2nd day of
May A. D. 1941, in this cause,

we had'to eat British rations,
which meant tea instead of coffee,
but I.find I like it very mueh

Mr. L.-^M. Rainwater tells us he
bought the W. J. Bean home and
four lots, located in the north end
of town: "No, I won't move into
the house," he added. "Just rental
property." By the by, L. M. Rain-
water and his good wife came to
Crosbyton just two years ago last
October from Edinburg, way down
in the Valley. Since coming here,
they have bought both the produce
building and the cafe building next
door. They operated the cafe a
year before buying the produce
business. Mr. Rainwater has tw-o.
sons in the Navy now; one of
whom, William, and his family are
expected here for a visit in April.
"I want to see his two young
ones," says the proud grandfather.
Can you blame him? „
By the way, we met Edgar Al-
len this week but didn't see the
ghosts of EjJgar Allen Poe any-
wheres about! Howsomever,"' we
are told that Mr. Edgar Allen has
it all over the famous Poe. For
Mr. Allen at one time or another
hgld down every "office in the court
ouse and now marks time check-
ing on the school board fihd its
finances. Quite a man, Mr. Allen.
We have never been defeated for
public office either, Mr. Allen. But
that is because we never did rUn
for one! -

County, Texas, April Term 1945.
To Hon. Daniel A. Blair, Judge
of said Court:.
Now comes Ode Taylor and his
wife, Mrs. Vesta Taylor/ and file
this their petition for leave to a-
dopt a minor child, named Adrian
Williamson, and in support of their
petition they and each of them al-
lege:
1. That petitioners are husband
and wife; that each of them is an
adult resident of the State of Tex-
as and of Crosby County, Texas;
that the minor' child which they
seek to adopt is a boy named
Adrian Wilfiamson, about the age
jjf thirteen years, having been born
December 3rd, 1927; that said mi-
nor child is now in the home of
your petitioners in Crosby county,
Texas, and has been for several
years; and that the legal residence
of said child is in the aforesaid
District.
2. Thafc-R. J. Williamson is the
father of said child, and that Mrs.
.Vesta Taylor, one of your petition-
ers, is the Mother" of said child;
that a divorce has been granted
the said Mrs. Vesta Taylor, dis-
solving the bonds of matrimony
between the said Vesta Taylor and
the said R. J. Williamson, and that
in sa|d divorce preceding that care
and custody of said child was by
the District Court of Crosby Coun-
ty, Texas, on the 29th day of Sep-
tember 1031, in cause No. 1361, on
the docket of said court, awarded
to the said Vesta Taylor, and the
said minor child have lived toge-
ther and that she has had legal
custody of said child from that
date"imtil~ the present time and
still has the care, custody and oon-
trol of said child; that by reason
of the said facts the said child Is
a proper subject for adoption by'
your petitioners, and that peti-
tioners love said child and are able
and willing to care for and raise
said child properly and give him
the benefit of proper education^,!
advantages and that the home of
petitioners is a suitable home for
said child; and that said child has
lived continuously with petitioners
in their said home for more' than
six months past, having lived
with your petitioners since the
17th day of October 1931;
3. That your petitioner, Ode
Taylor, as next friend of said mi-
nor, further shows to the court
that in case the court should
grant this petition for adoption of
said child, it would be to the best
interest of said child to' -have his
name changed and that the name
should be changed from Adrian
Williamson to Adrian Taylor.
4. That your petitioners and said
child are all white persons.
: Wherefore your petitioners pray,
that the Honorable Distinct Court
appoint a time and place for hear-
ing this petitiohT that this Honor-
