STANLEY, were married Sunday,
May 23rd at the First baptist
Church. Out-of-town guests
included many relatives from
California. Golden Bo Res-
taurant closed its doors to
the general public to make
room for the huge dinner
reception for wedding guests.

LEE, son of MR. & MRS. GENE
L. LEE graduated from St.
Thomas High School. Sam
spends his out-of-school
hours assisting his parents
at Lee Printing Co.

MR. WILLIAM LIM, owner of
New South China Restaurant,
located at 8927 Richmond Ave.
(near Fondren), recently
hired a Dim-sum chef from
New York. Beginning June 5th,
they will serve Dim-sum every
day from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M.,
During the month of June,
there will be a 10% discount
on all Dim-sums.

176 graduating seniors were
named winners of the Jesse H. &
Mary Gibbs Jones 1982 Scholar-
ships. Each student received
$4000 payable at the rate of
$1000 annually to support under-
graduate studies in any accred-
ited four-year college or uni-
versity. The following students
of Oriental ancestry were selected
by their respective faculties:
Anthony Hong and Thomas Lin
(Bellaire High); Sara Ayala and
Mary Chew (Jefferson Davis);
Amy Yee (Jesse H. Jones); Kenny
Gow and Min Lim (Sharpstown);
Mary Yeung (Waltrip); James Lai
(Westbury); Rosana Lin and Linh
Nguyen (Elsik); Phyllis Chang
(Jersey Village).

to be named "The Woods on Bel-
laire," with structure site on
Bellaire Blve. at Loop 610 next
to the Church of The Nazarene,
is now in its planning stages.
Diversified Interests, Inc.,
from Las Vegas, hired Houston
architectect firm H. C. HWANG
and Partners to design the pro-
ject.

DR. EDWARD C. M. CHEN, now
hard at work writing his book
The History of the Chinese in
Houston has been promoted to
full professorship by the Board
of Regents at the University of
Houston.

MOLLY GEE, Dietitian who now
heads Nutrition at Sid Richard-
son at Methodist Hospital.

DR. GENE W. YEE, son of MR. &
MRS. LEWIS W. YEE, and MARY
HELEN KWONG. daughter of MR. &
MRS. JOE EDWARD KWONG, will be
united in marriage Sunday, the
20th of June, at the Chinese
Baptist Church with dinner
reception following at the
Westin Galleria Plaza Hotel.
A dance follows the reception.

EFEMIA CHUA, R. N. was one
of the two nurses selected to
receive the initial Brown
Foundation outstanding nurse-
oncologist award of $10,000.
Efemia Chua, 39, is from the
Philippines, has worked for
eight years at M. D. Anderson
and established the hospital
program to aid diabetic pa-
tients who also have cancer.
Mrs. Chua is so dedicated to
her job, she was unaware of
her last pregnancy until it
was five months along.
Mrs. Chua is the mother of
Allen Vincent,6, and Jody
Patrick, 2.

Says REV. PAUL HSU, "The
Chinese Lutheran Church has
acquired great quality. In
days of yore, I started all
activities and ended all
activities. Today I find my-
self in a truly administra-
tive post with a crew for
special assignments." Their
church is looking forward to "
independent status in Septem-
ber .

MR. & MRS. GORDON GEE's
houseguest for ten days was
Mrs. Gee's sister from Allen-
town, Pa., whose husband owns
the largest cable TV in
America with 72,000 customers
They had just attended the
U.S. Cable TV Convention in
Las Vegas.

MR. & MRS. WILLIE C. LEW of
Houston, and WILLIAM WONG,
son of MR. & MRS. HON WONG
of Pittsburgh, Pa.,will be
married July 4, 3 P.M. at
Bellaire Christian Church,
6610 Alder. Following the
ceremony, guests will join
the families in honoring the
newly wedded couple with a
reception and dance.
