WEST DALLAS.
Mrs. Tom King had an open house
last Thursday night August 17th to
the dolight of her friendj from North
Dallas. The table was spread and a
warm invitation welcomed the hungry
party of Joy riders. After kodaking
over the hay stalks and. around the
field Mrs. Kin rang the. Bell and
the race begun. A delightful chicken
supper with all its aocesories was
carefully prepared and served in cor-
ses. After a few selections from the
piano by Mrs. King the guartett was
served Ice cold water melon ice
cream with nut cake. Among those
present were: Mr. Lewis King and
Miss H. E. Anderson; Mr. Cecil Hicks;
Mrs. H. L. Llndsey. At this hour the
beppy party bid the King family good
night much to their regret and mo-
tored back to the city.

tion announced last' Wednesday that
the plans drawings and specifica-
tions for the new negro Junior and
Senior Hign School will be ready
for the bidders on or about October
4. The site for the new school build-
ing has already been pjirehased by
the Booard of Education. We are do-
ing everything possible to develop
and Improve the educate facilities
of Atlanta. We are also building se-
venteen other schools here and the
work on some of them is about com-
pleted" he said.

The work of the Sunday School
Convention proper commenced Thurs-
day afternoon with Rev. J. E. Knox
president presiding. After the regular
opening ceremony this body proceeded
with officers report following which
was the election of officers. .

choirs from various points In Texas
contested for a loving cup.
There were several entries: Mar-
shall Austin Dallas and Fort worth.

church.

and bowed in submission and their
hearts tuned in unison with the un-

people.
After listening to the above pro-
gram we were ushered out on the
beautiful j.vm where an exquisite
banquet of two courses. The first
consisting of a ham sandwich chick-
en salad and fruit punch the second
of brick cream cake and fruit waa
i .red by the lad'es of the church
and then the benediction which sent
them home with the happy reflection
that they had done their best to act
as people who love these two teach" s
and who are overflowli.a; with gratl.

Mr. Riddle secured third prise Ma-
cedonia choir under direction of Mrs.
E. A. Wilson rendered' some choice
selections as did Marshall choir nalth-
ter of these however did not figure
in the prizes. ......
Sundav evening at St. John church
the Austin choir held a sacred con-
cert In which musical numbers such
as solos ducts quartets and other

was under direction of Mrs. Grant of
