place. The preident Prof. L. T.
Boggun took great pleasure in in-
troducing Miss P. L. Franklin Mr.
Bradford and Mrs. A. M. Franklin
to the Society. They made speeches
that appealed to the entire consti-
tuency. The president commented
with chosen words all that the flu-
ent upeakers had said. The presi-
dent and the entire society were
elated to have' the presence of Miss
Franklin because of the fact that
she had been absent for many
months engaged in educational
work.
Sunday night marked the close of
a series of -sermons unsurpassed In
llieir nature in the history of Rusk.
They were delivered from the ros-
trum of the Mt. Pleasant C. M. E.
church by the Rev. I- P. Hi?htow-
er (lie independent evangelist that
is touring the Southland. The
great preacher had the privilege of
preaching to a house filled to its
capacity every night. So numerous
were the people that desired to
hear her preach until many had to
rer.ort to the church' campus for
comfortable places to stand great
numbers were compelled to rotire
from the scene. Cars were parked
all along North street facing the
church. The seats of the cars Were
filled with listeners. To the regret
of all that had heard Reventess
Higlitower preach she left Monday
morning en route to other points
in East Texas. Her stay in Rusk
and her consecrated service will be
remembered as long as the present
general ion of people live.
Prof. A. L. Franklin Is row en-
gaged in preparing a program which
ho contemplates being unique for
the closing of his school. Mrs. Eve-
lyn Bradley and sister. Miss Sa-
lama Parka entertained at the home
of the latter a number of friends
with a tea party on Monday night.

MURDER.
Indianapolis Ind. April 20.
After an hour's deliberation a
criminal court Jury last Thursday
found Mrs. Anna Price aged 24
years srulltv of manslaughter in
connection with the death of her
husband. William Price who was
shot to death on November 16
1922. Mrs. Price will be sentenced
later.' The maximum penalty for
mpnslaurhter in this state Is from
two to fourteen years Imprisonment
in the Indiana women's prison. She
was charged with second degree
murder. The shooting is said to
have followed a fight and quarrel
over domestic affairs.
