Moat people go Joy riding when
the weather Is pretty but Hiss Eyes
know one gentleman who prefers
rainy weather to ride hla "sweetie"
around. Mlsa Eyes aaw them one
rainy night and both aeemed per-
fectly contented In the rain. Prob-
ably he picks rainy nlghta knowing
that "wlfey" la alwaya at home in
bad weather and there isn't much
danger of meeting their friends
when the weather la bad. Watch
out aa wlfey may decide to go out
In the rain aome evening and trail
you.
Mlsa Eyea wondera Just why a cer-
tain Doctor has become ao very
popular with the gentlemen as well
aa the women here lately. Miss
Eyea should not wonder because the
reason la obvious and only hopes
that this audden popularity doesn't
go to hla head.
That young society man who has
broken many hearts in his younsr
life in really having a wonderful
time with the young flappers as they
are affording him much amusement
by falling for the line that he hands
them. MIhs Eyea heard him dis-

FORT WORTH NEWS
At twelve o'clock last night the
old year 1923 passed into history;
and a new year 1924 was ushered
in to the tune of fifes drums bells
whistles and fire crackers etc.
1923 was indeed a great year its
worth. Its events constructiveness
and sclentitlo deductions can not
be chronicled In thla brief article
not indeed they could not be
chronicled in many volumes. Car-
rying as many pages and aa
much apace as Webstera master
dictionary 1924 la caculated to be
equally important that being true
we ahould all aet out on the very
first day in the year making every
minute In the hour count every
second In the minute count by
so doing when the year will have
closed we will have no regrets.
All churches are In the very best
condition both spiritual and fi-
nancial mauy of the churches con-
ducted specil New Year's service
today. Those that did not conduct
auch services ushered In the new
year with services that began In
the last hours of 1923.

Now young man Miss Eyea saya thla

are attempting to make It ao very

they will do aa much or more for
you. Then too you are knocking
them out of a chance with aome
other young men who may be In-

Mlsa Eyea aaw them In town shop-

course that they were together. He
told her before Christmas that he
thought it would be bettor for them
to catch the January salea and no
doubt thla la what they were do-
ing. Miss Eyea might not have
known about it If ahe had not felt
the necessity of telling her very best
friend what her kind "dndy" had
planned to buy her after the holi-

chanced to be a dear friend of Mlsa

Dr. Winn having conducted the
services the early part of the week
hence the entire week was spent
in service. Sunday Dec. 80th. was
styled checking-out-day the old
year 1923 was checked out by
great numbers who attended the
church during the day. There were
special registrars atationa at each
entrance to enter the namea of
those who worshipped at the
church at any one of the services.
This was the first time thla method
hud been attempted by the church
but the commplimenta were so
pleasing it Is thought It may be
made an annual affair. The day
was commenced in the Sunday
School when everybody who at-
tended the School were checked.
There were many visitors at that
service prominent whom were
Deacon L. W. Winn. Brother of
Pastor J. H. Winn of Dale Texas
and Mrs. F. K. Warmington of
Como Heights. Ft. Worth and her
daughter. Annual reports were read
by the sec'y and several depart-
ment heads all of them being
very gratifying. At the eleven
o'clock hour Dr.- Winn preached
from the topic "The Harvest is
Pnst; The Summer is Ended and
we are not Saved". The discourse
wns very helpful Indeed in it the
pastor showed that even tho the
year is ended in so far as Sundny
public worship is concerned no
body hns done as much as they
should have and If another op-
portunity wns granted everybody
would doubtless make use of It
serving their very best Interest.
