conveniences afforded In tho new
city jail;
Yesterday Ofllcor Cox received a
telegram from Chief of Police Sims
of Sliawuee telling him to arrest
and hold the boy who would apply
at the First. National bank lor mon-
ey. It seems that the youth gave
away his whereabouts by wiring to a
shawneo bank for money to be sent
to the bank here. The authorities
at Soawnee told the bank lere to
refuse the draft and warn the of-
ficers j
Officer Cox took up his tatlon
along the street yesterday uftQrnoon
and In duo time the boy came to the
bank. Cashier Lowndes ascertained
his (business and name and told him
that the money had been refused.
Then he gave tho sign to the officer
and as Galther left the building tho
officer placed him under arrest.
The boy Is "dead broke" and
showe slgii3 of rough usage since he
left home. The authorities here
havo wired for further Information
and in tho meantime Galther enjoys
the distinction of being the first
prisoner the new city flail haB ever
confined. -
