McAdoo News
McAdoo People Moam Deaths;
Betty Brown. WTSC, Visits at Home

Seems that we have had our
share of deaths this past week.
Mr. J. W. Jackson passed away
Saturday morning at his home in
McAdoo. Funeral services were
held in the Methodist Church
Sunday afternoon. Rev. James
Patterson of Lubbock and a for-
mer pastor here assisted Rev.
Bernard Seay with funeral ser-
vices. Military services were held
at the McAdoo cemetery.
Word was received that Buck
Brownlow was killed in a car
wreck in South Dakota Saturday
nipht and funeral services were
conducted in Hereford Tuesday.
Buck is a former resident and is
the father of Mrs Earl Van Me-
ter of this community.
Monday morning Mrs. L. C.
Hickman passed away in the
Crosbyton hospital where she
had been a patient for the past
two and a half months. Funeral

several days in Lubbock last

S. Armstrong, who has just been
released Irom the hospital and is
able to upend a few hours each
day at his work. May we wish

redge visited over the weekend
in Alpine with their son, Mr. and
Mrs. Cherry Eldredge Cherry is
a student at Sul Ross College in
Alpine.

ory, of Lubbock.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Puliens
visited over the weekend in Mid-
land with their son, Mr. and Mrs.
Elzie Puliens and family and in
Odessa with her father, W. S. Mc-
Carty.
Elsie Mae Payne of San An-
tonio is visiting with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. John Calllhan, and
other relatives.

day guests of her parents, Mr.

they attended services at the
Baptist Church Sunday morning

church enjoyed a social at Silver
Falls Friday night. They had
roasted weiners and all the trim-
mings. Those enjoying the out

Hickman, Dwayne Harris, Mary
Beth Moore, Dwlght Hickman,
Mary Sue Neff. Nancy McWil
hams, Jean Tooke, Lanell Allen,
Mike Fox, Randy Pope, Mike
Pope and Danny Tinney along
with their sponsors, Mrs Ray
Tinney, Bro and Mrs. James
Pope.
Mrs. J. K. Bradshaw of Loren-
zo was a Sunday night supper
guest of Mr and Mrs. J. J. Grif-
fin
Mr and Mrs Jon Teague and
Camllle of Canyon visited over
the weekend with his parents.

Gins Are Getting Some Cotton Noir;

The gins are beginning to get
quite a bit of cotton now, espec-
ially the Wake Gin as the Farm-
ers up there had much earlier
cotton than down this way. Many
up there have defoliated and
have now started their strippers.
Mrs. Robert Kendrick accom-
panied Mr. and Mrs. Bob Kend-
rick to Houston Saturday where
they were at the bedside of Mrs.
Kendricks daughter and Bob's
sister, who underwent surgery In
a hospital there Monday of this
week. We certainly wish for her
a fast recovery.
Linda, Becky, Cathy and Bryan
Kendrick were after school call
ers Monday afternoon with their
grandfather and uncle, Robert
Kendrick and Kraig.
Mrs. Irene -Berry was host to
the Willing Hands Club Thurs-
day afternoon of last week. Mrs
Nancy Morckel gave a very in-
teresting demonstration on dry
arrangements, • after refresh-
ments of Sandwiches and cold
drinks were served with home
made cookies. All enjoyed gifts
exchanged from the grab box.
