Government Plant
Will Go To Bidders
WASHINGTON (UP) — Bid-
fling on the government's $200,.
000,000 Geneva steel plant in
Utah will get underway tomor-
row afternoon in the nation's
capital.
And the head of the war as-
sets administration's iron and
steel division — W. A. Hauck—
says he already has received
several bids. In addition, a mys-
terious communication from
West Coast industrialist Henry
Kaiser is scheduled to arrive be-
fore the bidding starts at 3:00 p.
m. Washington time.
Kaiser's Washington office
has neither confirmed nor de-
nied that the envelope will con-
tain a bid. A spokesman says, "it
will lie an answer to WAA's in-
vitation to bid — but not es-
pecially a bid."
Meanwhile, pre-opening spec-
ulation on other possible bid-
ders for the plant centers on
United States Steel, the Colo-
rado Fuel and Iron Company
and the Norris Stamping Com-
pany of Los Angeles. And there
is a strong likelihood of dark-
horse offers.

apolis apartment.
