Softball Opener Here
After five years of inactivity,
Softball was revived in Sweet-
water Thursday night with two
bang-up games at city park be-
fore a crowd of approximately
400 fans.
In the curtain raiser, Mag-
nolia-Mcilico blasted out a
i:-2 victory over tiulf in an
exceptionally well played
early season game.
In the l'inaie, the Jaycees
and V. S. Ciypsiim entries
played on even terms
through five innings before
the Jaycees put together a
couple of hits and took ad-
vantage of Gypsum niiscues
to win 7-4.
The M&M-Gulf contest brought
veteran tosser, went all the way
for Gyp against two new-comers
to Sweetwater softball. Italph
Xeal started in the box for the
JCs and tossed the first five in-
nings. Graham replaced him at
the start of the sixth and hurled
the last two. Graham looked like
| he may turn out to be among the
I top notchers.
W. Cleckler. Jaycees' first
baseman, was the star hitter of
1 the double-header. He was the
1 only man to hit for
I His four-base blow came in the
| sixth frame, with Rice aboard to
i ice the game for the Jaycees.
