Jaycees Upset
Oilers 4 To 3
Magnolia-Medicos
Stop Cabs 8 to 0
Upset is mild word for what
happened on the Sweetwater
diamond last night. Jaycees. who
couldn't Ret off the bottom rung
of the ladder all through the
practice softball season came up-
ward with a hang to defeat the
Gulf Oilers I to in a fast up-
cind-up tilt
Another surprising reversal
took a similar trend in the
night-cap. For the first time
in the league's season the
Magnolia-Medicos won over
the stellar Harp team. The
final score -tood K to II as the
taxi team went down in de-
feat.
Graham did the tossing for
Jaycees. permitting the Oilers .1
hit-, and striking out a quartet
of them. The game was nip-and-
tuck with both teams playing
their best hall game The four
errors in the match were divided,
equally between the contenders.
Losing pitcher in this instance
was .lustiss. The .Junior Chamber
took I hits from him, while only
two fanned.
The ball whipped from Mabry
to Scoggins in the second game
as 10 Harp batters failed to touch
it. A trio of them managed hits,
but lacked taxi fare home.
Neper was the mound-man for
llarj).
Howe recorded the singular
home run for the M. & M. club.
One man was on when the Ixill
went skyward. In all the winn-
ing team put nine hits across
the diamond.
Bankhead plays hoth ends of a
double header tonight, one of
them a league game with I'. S
Gyp. Visitors from Roby will
play in the exhibiton.

Bankhead Protest
Clarified In'Rule
Book For Softball
Existing controversy as to the
result of Hunk head's protest in
I the Tuesday softball tilt with
the Magnolia-Medicos still ponds
the decision of the directors of
the league.
Manager Books of the Hank-
head team clarifys his protest by
quoting from the 1!H<> rules for
softball:
"Rule :t. Section 8 (page
21): All visible parts of the
uniform and accessories worn
by the pitcher shall l e the
same dark blue or black
color with no lettering or j
trimming on the front of
the uniform".
The M & M. pitcher's uniform
had two 4-inch white letters on
the front, which the Bankhead ,
manager says confuses his bat-
ter- — who are trying to hit a
white ball coming from the di-
rection of the pitcher.
The rule further states that it
illegal for other men in the field
to wear clothing that might dis-
tract the attention of the batter.
Should the decision be in favor
of Bankhead the game will prob-
ably be replayed. If M. it M.
gets the favorable verdict the
score of 11 to P> shall stand as a
victory for them. •
Managers ot other teams in
the league and representatives
if the Sweetwater Athletic asso-
ciation will meet in the Central
Fire Station Wednesday evening
to determine the case.
Henderson Now Top
Team In East Texas
PARIS (CP) — Henderson
is still on top in the East Texas
League today, but the Paris Red
Peppers have dropped to third
place — behind the Tyler Tro-
jans,
Henderson clung to its top
position by defeating Sherman 7
to 3 last night, while Tyler mov-
ed up with a 2 to 1 win over
Greenville. The Greenville team,
by the way. protested the game
in the third inning. It concerned
an umpire's decision at first
base.
In yesterday's other games,
Jacksonville clubbed Paris for a
10 to 0 victory, while . hammer-
ing Blomer, Smith and Rustic for
20 hits. At Texarkana, a visiting
Lufkin club was outlasted 10 to
