Founders Day Banquet Held
By Zeta Kappa Chapter
A circus theme was use<l Tues-
day evening when /eta Ka|i|>a
day evening when Zeta Kappa
chapter of Heta Sigma Phi held
it Founder's Day banquet in the
Rose Room of the Blue Bonnet
Hotel.
Stuffed toys were used on the
table and in the shadow box.
and clusters of balloons were
used at the windows and in the
center of the shadow box. Places
were marked by little pennants
atop boxes of animal crackers,
while clowns served as covers
for the menu at each plate.
The menu included fruit cock-
tail, lettuce and tomato salad,
ham with, raisin sauce, candied
varus. asparagus, hot rolls, iced
"tea and apple pie a la mode.

day night at the evening service
ol the First Methodist Church.

kirby. was installing officer.
Immediately after the installa-
.iun service, the new officers of

with Or. Rooeit L. Goodloe,
professor from S.M.U., Dallas,
who is conducting a series of
lectures this week at the church,
were honored at a reception in
Lhe basement of the church.

The Reverend Kirby, Dr.
Goodloe, Mrs. Wilson Barton,
who is district secretary, Christ-
ian Social relations, W.S.C.S.;
Mrs. P. T. Quast who is East-
ern Zone leader in this district,
and the in-coming officers of
the three organizations were in
the receiving line.
Three refreshment tables were
arranged and each was covered
with a lace cloth. Punch and
cake squares were served at
each.
The W.S.C.S., table was cen-
tered with a bouquet of white
flowers, and a story book doll
dressed in white satin and lace,
white tapers and a little white
cart filled with white flowers I
were used in the decorations.

on the recent Guild Conference
held in Lubbock was given by

Patton and Miss Frances Voss,
who attended.

The Fidelis Matrons Class of
the Lamar Street Baptist

in the home of Mrs. T. F. Welch,

ness and social meeting. Mrs.

The business session was pre-
sided over by Mrs. J. W. Her-
ron. and Mrs. Kermit Wilson
offered prayer. Mrs. Paul Bar-
ton brought the- devotional
after secret pal gifts were ex-
changed.
Refreshments of tuna sand-
wiches. pot ito chips, punch and
assorted cookies were served
to Mines. Paul Barton, M. G.
Moore. Oscar Sims. Kermit Wil-
son, J. W. Hern.n. and the two
hostesses, Mrs. Welch and Mrs.
Ka vmer.

Founder's Day was observed
this week by the Beta Omega
Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha
sorority at May Day breakfst in
the private dining room at
Starr's. Pledges of the sorority
were honored at the courtesy.
Hydrangea and roses were
used in the decorations of the ta-
bles. The invocation was by
Mrs. Johnnie Hurt, and the menu
included tomato juice, scrambled
eggs, ham, toast and coffee.
A parting gift was made to
Miss Lomeda Kennada, who is
moving to San Angelo.
Mrs. Mack Duce gave the pro-
gram, which included messages
from E. Robert Palmer, presi-
dent of the national executive
council; greetings from the pres-
ident of the national advisory
council and also from the inter-
national rushing director. The
sorority, which is 21 years old,
was wished a happy birthday by
Peggy O'Connor, international
director.

was observed at the St. Steph-
en's Episcopal church on Mon-
day with a corporate commun-
ion at 11 a. m. followed by buf-
fet luncheon at 12:15 at the Vic-
arage.
The dinner was served buffet
style with roses being used on
the table and iris in the other
rooms of the house.
The menu included chicken
spaghetti, rolls, vegetable salad,
relishes, cookies, and ice tea.

Approximately 40 Girl Scout
adult leaders from the West
Texas Girl Scout Area will be
in Sweetwater Thursday for a
Crafts Workshop to be held at
the First Presbyterian Church
basement under ihe supervision
of Miss Sara Bowman, West
Texas Girl Scout area executive.
The leader, will begin work
at Id a. in. Thursday and con-
tinue until 3 p. ni. with an hour
off for lunch. Crafts will be
taught the leaders so that they
may guide the girls in their
troop, day camp or area camp.
Mrs. L. T. Nelson will con-
duct the class in wood carving,
while Mrs, Vernon Blocker of
Ruscoe will teach sketching.
Mrs. Peter Eox will be in charge
of Indian basketry. Miss Bow-
man will supervise pottery
making, and Mrs. Foster Miller
will conduct the class in nature
crafts. Weaving with native ma-
terials w ill also be offered.
Girl Scout adult leaders from
this area will be present. This
area includes Big Spring, Alii
lone, I.aniesa Ruby. Hotan, Ros
coe, Colorado City as well as a
