New Health Certificate In
Marriages Is Law On Oct. 6
• A new state law effective on
Oct. 6 requiring health certifi-
cates of a definite type will ap-
ply to marriages, according to
information received by County
Clerk L. W. Scott.
The state department of heal-
th wrote all county clerks:
"House Bill No. 588 of the 51st
legislature requires that no mar-
riage licenses shall be issued
unless each applicant files with
the county clerk a certificate
form signed by a duly qualified
physician stating that a medi-
cal examination has been per-
formed. This includes a standard
serological test for syphilis.
"The law further states that
the serological test for syphilis
must be performed in a labora-
tory approved for this purpose
by the State Health Department.
"At the time the license is
issued the county clerk is re-
quired to certify on the reverse
side that all certificates or a
court order required by this act
have been received and filed.
The statement of the county
clerk shall show the date of the
examination of both parties un-
less same has been suspended
by court order."
Ministers or judges officiating
at weddings must make sure
that the health certificate has
been filed, this lieing required
as a part of the marriage licen-
se.
H"he state health department is
now making a check of labora-
tories in the state to determine
which are qualified to issue
such health certificates.

Indians In Frozen
North Like Rough
Wild West Movies
CROSS LAKE, Manitoba, (UP)
(UP)— The operators of the lo-
cal motion picture house re-
port that Indians won't pay a
plugged coon-skin to see Betty
Grable's legs.
They wimi snoot-'em-up West-
erns before they plunk down
their choice muskrat hides.
The operators, who came to
the frozen north last summer
to make their fortune showing
the glamor of Hollywood to
the Indians, reviewed their ex-
periences today and changed
their plans to fit the commun-
ity.
First they applied for a fur
dealer's license. The Indians
have no regard for money. But
they are willing to trade a musk-
rat pelt for a season ticket.
Betty Grable, Lana Turner
and Ginger Rogers leave them
as cold as the climate, and bro-
ther it's cold outside.
"They don't want their love
second hand from Hollywood
out here where the nights are
six months long," one of the
operators said.
But they'll load up with pop-
corn and peanuts and sit twice
through a rip-snorting thriller
where Roy Rogers and his horse
Trigger get chased by Indians.
They cheer the Indians.
