Each new Senior Scout was pre-
sented a cap and a pin by a Sen-
ior Service Scout.
Colors were presented by the
Snyder Girl Scouts. The pledge of
allegiance was led by Stephan Ste-
phens of Lamesa. "America the
Beautiful" was led by Yvonne
Wells, of Lamesa.
Candles representing the three
parts of the Girls Scout promise
and the Girl Scout laws were ligh-
ted by the new Senior Scouts.
Lamesa scouts present were An-
ease Prichett, Yvonne Wells, Ste-
phan Stephens, Nancy Henry, Nan-
cy Strayhan and Patsy Sprawls.
Snyder girls were Bebe Cockrell,
Mary Ann Doak. Harriet Redwine,
Linda Milam. Ann Fish. Joyce Bla-
ckely and Siddie Harrell.
Sweetwater girls capped were
Jeanne Michael. Kay Nance, Doris
Bonner, Vee Brady, Kay Callison,
Carolyn Carroll. Betty Creech,
Carolyn Ec-hols, Sidney Edwards,
Joy Eoff. Judy Johnson, Naomi
Johnson, Marilyn Kinsey, Jane Mc-
Junkins, Pat Murray, Neelia Jo

Three Officers
Elected At P. E. 0.
Chapter Meeting
Three officers were elected at
the Tuesday afternoon meeting of
Chapter BH, P.E.O., in the home
of Mrs. Glenn Russell, 708 Jose-
phine.
The three fill vacancies in chap-
ter offices.
Mrs. Foster Miller was elected
chaplain to serve out the remaind-
er of the term which will expire
in March.
Mrs. Charles Byrd was elected
corresponding secretary to fill out
the remainder of this year and
next for Mrs. Sidney Woodman,
who has moved to Arkansas City,
Kan.
Mrs. Frank Murchison was elect-
ed treasurer to fill the post which
will be vacated when Mrs. John
Miner moves away in the near fu-
ture. Mr. Miner is an employe of
Gulf Refinery, which will be closed
down here this fall and the em-
ployes transferred elsewhere.
Mrs. Russell served cheese sand-
wiches, a confection, olives and
coffee to Mmes Joe Bowen. Dan
Burkard, Charles Bledsoe, A. R.
Norred, R. L. Ullom, Lucille Stew-
art, Willis Davis, John Miner, Tom
Marsh, and Russell, with Mrs. Bry-
son Paddock of Brownsville, a
former member, as a guest.
Mrs. LeRoy Sauer
Heads Champion
Women's Club
Mrs. LeRoy Sauer is the newly
elected president of the Champion
Home Demonstration Club. Offi-
cers for the coming year were
elected at the club's meeting last
Thursday in the Sauer home.
Others elected were Mrs. Max
Wright as vice-president, Mrs. E.
C. Miles as secretary-treasurer,
Mrs. Fritz Hantsche as council
delegate, and Mrs. C. J. Walker as
reporter.
Oven meal recipes were given in
response to roll call. Chairmen of
committees gave ther annual re-
ports, as did individual club mem-
bers.
Refreshments were served to
Mmes. Max Wright, O. F. Lindsey,
O. C. Gabler, R. R. Wright, E. C.
Miles, and Sauer.
Cyrella Smith To Compete In State
4-H Dress Revue In Dallas At Fair
Cyrella Smith, 14-year-old coun-
ty and district winner in the 1954
4-H Dress Revue contests, will
spend the remainder of this week
in Dallas competing in the State
Dress Revue at the Dallas Fair.
Cyrella, who is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Smith of
near Roscoe, was county senior
winner in August, and later was
one of four winners chosen from

Home demonstration clubwomen
of Nolan County will gather at the
Legion Hut in City Park, Sweet-
water, at 9:30 a.m.. Friday for the
annual covered dish luncheon and
all-day meeting of the Nolan Coun-
ty HD Council.
Annual reports will be given, and
representatives of each club will
be counted. Mrs. O. F. Lindsey of
Roscoe, council president, will be
in charge.
Accordion
Mrs. H. W. Broughton's B-Sharp
Accordion Club will give musical
numbers.
Mrs. J. T. McReynolds is chair-
man of the committee on arrange-
ments, with Mrs. Roy Stroman as
co-chairman.

Lewis School in a regular meeting
Monday Oct. 10th.
Officers are LeBecca Shaw as
president, Leta Reyna as vice-

Circle Named For
Honored Missionary
The name "Eva M. Sanders" was
chosen by the new Lamar Street
Baptist WMU circle which met
Tuesday morning.
Eva M. Sanders has been a mis-
sionary in West Africn for 23 years
and has received the medal of
honor from the British Empire for
her work there.
Mrs. Joe Whitworth led singing,
and Mrs. Lee Choate had the Bible
study. Mrs. Ellis Roach said a
prayer.
Present were Mmes. Henry Bar-
field, Choate, Ray Lewis, Melvin
Adams. Roach, Whitworth, Wayne
Harp, Huey Rogers, O. B. Kollman,
Willard Justice, and John Pace;
Miss Eva Richburg.
Salad Luncheon
Held By Circle
Mary Martha Circle of Highland
Heights Methodist Church had a
salad luncheon at the church Mon-
day with Mrs. Robert Headriek and
Mrs. Grover Hanes as hostesses.
Mrs. Jasper Clark presided. Mrs.
Virgil Richburg and Mrs. G. D.
Morrison said prayers. Mrs. Hanes
'had the devotional period.
On the program were Mmes.
Earle Whitaker Jr., Roy Edgar Jr.,
Bryant Taylor, and R. D. Davis.
Attending were those mentioned
and the Rev. Travis Darby; also
Mmes. Carl Stanley, Raymond
Ross, Glenn Brazelton, Billy Jones,
Frank Trammell. Jim Headriek,
and O. H. Davenport.
District 7 In a revue at Abilene.
Contestants are to be in Dallas
by 6 a. m. Thursday and will be
put up at the Hotel Adolphus. Cy-
rella is making the trip with a
neighboring county HD agent and
her group, since Nolan County's
agent, Miss Sue Hawthorn, is in
Chicago for the national HD ag-
ents convention.
Preliminary judging will take
place Friday morning in the Cac-
tus room.
The revue itself and the an-
nouncement of winners will be
held at 11 a. m. Saturday in the
State Fair Auditorium. This will
be a feature of 4-H Day at the
fair.
Chicken Noodle Supper
To Be Served At HH
Methodist Church
A chicken noodle supper will be
served at Highland Heights Meth-
odist Church this evening, 5:15 to
7:15, by the Belle Bennett Circle.
Each plate, including chicken
noodles, salad, pie and coffee, will
be 65 cents. The public is invited.
The East Ridge Mother-Father
Teacher Association will not meet
for its October session this Thurs-
day afternoon, due to work under-
way on the Halloween carnival.
